Matsushima is famous for their fresh fish. And the Matsushima Fish Market is the easiest place to enjoy it. The first floor offered overwhelming fish options, some of which were local. We thought the 3 Tuna Rice Bowl for 1290¥ and Special Tuna Bowl for 1500¥ looked good. We placed our orders on the first floor and headed up to the second floor to their dining area to enjoy our spoils.
The freshness was evident from the first bite: clean, smooth, and light tastes, with no fishiness. The medium-fatty tuna was particularly exceptional. All you can eat oysters are in the first floor outside the building. Inside the building is where you can purchase food omiyage to bring home and where you order their fresh tuna dishes.
Second floor is a big dining area with a few more options, including gyutan, kaki (oyster) burger, and ramens based off tuna.
Do be sure you have some familiarity with numbers in Japanese, as when it's busy, they give you a number to wait, and they announce it over the P.A., they are usually good in doing it in English afterwards, but things can get missed.

The grilled oysters are bland, overcooked and overpriced, I feel lucky that I decided to have the set meal (JPY1800) instead of the all you can eat (JPY3500). I at least found two places have better and cheaper grilled oysters in matsushima/ Sendai. The miso soup and rice are both contain ZERO oyster favor. What a shame!
