The Suwa lake as well as the area around it (including the Lakeside Park) is very beautiful in respects of nature: one can see many different species of birds, take a relaxing walk around the lake (3-4 hours), or just enjoy sitting quietly in the grass, feeling the fresh breeze from the lake (which the people living in Suwa also call "Suwa no umi", "the sea / ocean of Suwa").
