Hida Takayama Activity and Exchange Hall — Attraction in Takayama

We spent a lot of our time here, my wife and I during our 3 week stay. We were fortunate enough to be in town during a mini festival which had a craft market near the station, but here, they had food stalls and hands-on experiences that ran for a number of days. We got to mingle with the locals and ate some amazing food. We were touched by the kindness of some of the people working here that helped my wife and I make some beautiful products. We both made bamboo lamps and my wife made a sarabobo and a traditional linen bag that she hand painted (the gentleman that sat with her for hours has the patience of a saint)....

I knew coming to Takayama that I needed to braid Kumihimo like in Your Name. We loved it so much we came twice! The mixture of Japanese we knew and the amount of English they knew worked out nicely to be able to have a peaceful time. We came during the autumn festival, but had no wait times.
