Best bar in Takayama, you have to give this place a visit! Such a great vibe and Atu is the kindest and most humble bartender, he was so welcoming and made us feel so comfortable.

Not to mention.. his cocktails are terrific!! I had the yuzu negroni which is made with Campari infused with fig (which he makes himself!) to give it a unique twist. My wife hade the ginger plum martini and shimuzu cocktails, both tasted amazing!

All his drinks have this kind of personal touch with locally sourced ingredients making this bar stand out as one of the best I’ve been to in Japan.

My wife and I stayed for a mini lock in and we talked about travelling with Atu whilst sampling his favourite sake and whisky.

I would come back to Takayama just to drink at this bar again.

I was so happy when I stumbled upon this little gem of a bar.

In true Japanese fashion, the bar is tiny but decorated with style and attention to details.

I had a lovely, long chat with the owner, who spoke perfect English. I ordered two cocktails, one with alcohol and one without, and they were both very, very delicious.

The owner recommended a place where I could find the aubergine dish I wanted to try and wrote down the name for me to show at the restaurant, which was very thoughful.

The bar, however, was the best part of my evening.
