World class and one of the single best ensemble performances I've ever experienced. Each of the 10+ dancers are extremely skilled while possessing their own individual strengths and qualities. The dancers are 100% committed and I felt like they were performing the one and only show just for me!
The show itself is impressively produced to allow for movement of the audience seamlessly between sets. Audience is small and rooms are intimate enough to feel entirely immersed.
The choreography is spectacular. A beautiful combination of contemporary with hints of modern, ballet, and hip-hop. The group took full advantage of the set and performances used many interesting props in original ways to further the storyline. Honestly, I've never seen such impressively detailed choreography, which uses props, lighting, shadows, music, (and aromas?) so well while not becoming too kitchy/campy and still completely focusing on the beauty of the dance!
The story itself is explained in a detailed English guide beforehand, so come 10 minutes early if you'd like to be prepared. This makes it very friendly to the general and non-dance public, which is rare and appreciated.
The set pieces and themes are very broad, universal, and relatable, while also being extremely Japanese in nature.
My only complaint is that at the end there was no chance to applaud!! So I'll do it here 🫡👏🫶🌷💯 I would see this show again in a heartbeat and hope it tours and shows up one day...

Anemoia Tokyo is an incredible immersive theater experience that goes far beyond a traditional stage show. Located just minutes from Tokyo Station, it's super convenient to include in your sightseeing itinerary.
The story is told entirely through dance and movement—no words needed—so even if you don't speak Japanese, you can fully enjoy and understand what's happening. It beautifully blends traditional Japanese elements with modern performance, creating a unique cultural experience you won’t find anywhere else.
What really sets Anemoia Tokyo apart is that you don’t just watch the story—you become part of it. At first, I felt a bit nervous and unsure how to move, but the performers’ gestures gently guided me, and I soon felt comfortable participating. Walking through different scenes, interacting with performers, and exploring the mysterious world made me feel like I had stepped into a dream.
As a nice bonus, you even get to take home a mask used in the performance, which makes for a special souvenir!
Highly recommend for anyone looking for a memorable and artistic...
