Kabuiis a classical form of Japanese theatre, mixing dramatic performance with traditional dance. Kabuki theatre is known for its heavily stylised performances, its glamorous, highly decorated costumes, and for the elaborate make-up worn by some of its performers. The theatre was originally opened by a Meiji era journalist. Building was destroyed several times. The style in 1924 was baroque Japanese revivalist style, showing architectural details of Japanese castles, and temples of pre-Edo period. This style was kept after the post-war reconstruction and again after the 2013 reconstruction. There are performances almost every day and you can purchase tickets. While I don't understand or speak Japanese, that didn't deter me from having a great time.
The play was captivating. It helped that the staff passed out a pamphlet before hand summarized the story before watching the actual play just enhanced the experience.
The dances were fun and unique as well. Reminds me somewhat of a Japanese version of a "strip club" when I saw the audience either pushing money envelopes into the dancers' shirt or clipping money directly onto their shirt.
