ALL LARGE CHARACTER DISPLAYS ARE GONE and replaced with large advertising screens. The first floor no longer exhists!
NONE OF THE PHOTOS ARE RELEVANT ANYMORE! The store sold the first floor to other companies and now there is ONLY ONE LARGE DISPLAY left - the strawberry display- which, from what I've seen, you used to be able to walk through, but now it's just a display on the wall filled with plushies and a barrier around it so you don't go in there. The store is sad and only for selling products - much more grey than it used to be. Old displays were swapped out for big screens which play sanrio advertising on them. The entrance is just a staircase with sanrio characters drawn on, no hello kitty or my melody statue to be seen. It was my dream to see the large pompompurin display shelf, but this is gone entirely. I was really, really upset about this when I realised that they've completely ruined the store after scouring through previous photos online to see if I was even visiting the right one. I don't know why they did this, it's really sad, I doubt sanrio is losing money and HAD to sell the first floor. I DO NOT RECOMMEND GOING - DON'T BOTHER! While it is a bigger store, you can get everything if you visit any two of the other stores - such as the one in Shinjuku with the large hello kitty statue (THE ONLY LARGE CHARACTER DISPLAY I'VE SEEN) and then any other one (I would recommend Kiddy Land, which has a really cute Rilakkuma section WITH CUTE DISPLAYS). Really, really disappointing. Such a loss for sanrio fans.
There are small character displays on your way through the check out line- but it's impossible to get a photo with them as there are many people lining up to pay for their items surrounding it, and they're not...
Read moreWanted to purchase 2 boxes of the bow keychain so my partner and i queued for 10min to checkout and once we reached the cashier, another staff walked past and whispered something into the cashier’s ears. all of a sudden, the cashier said we could only buy 1 box per person. that’s fine with me since most japanese stores implement a limit (but mind you, they did not state previously whatsoever on the display).
i was fine with it since i thought my partner and i could pay for the 2 boxes separately. but the cashier said we had to requeue from the start. also note that we had to go back to the hotel to catch our flight back home. we asked if she could just do 2 separate payments since we already queued for awhile and was 1. not notified of this “1 per person” rule beforehand 2. we were already at the cashier
however she was SUPER RIGID and said no, have to requeue. omg. it was the most ridiculous thing ever. and they just came up with that “rule” on the spot? insane.
TLDR: staff are too rigid and inflexible. will come up with random stupid rules to NOT sell you...
Read moreI told the cashier, I would like to do ichiban kuji pulls one at a time. She agreed. She said two was minimum per purchase so I bought two. Then, when I did not win the prize, which only had a few tickets left to win, she to my confusion and shock refused service to me and my girlfriend and told me to go back to the very end of the line. Perhaps this was because I was a foreigner. Because there were lots of Japanese in the line and maybe she wanted Japanese to win the prize. When I asked her if my girlfriend can buy as a separate customer, she ferociously swung her head side to side and with a furious glare swung her arm to point us to go back to the end of the line. After a brief pause, I went back to the end of the line, feeling humiliated. Maybe that brief pause triggered her because she slammed the kuji ticket box on the table and to my dismay I saw the Japanese customers behind us win the big...
