Please note the price per person for our meal was only 6,000-7,000 instead of 5,000-6,000 because we were put in such good moods we each ordered several drinks and add ons!
This is probably the best shabu experience I’ve ever had in my life. (Arigato Reika!) I have made it a point to try every shabu spot in every city, state, and country I’ve visited for the past decade and a half. The meat quality here is amongst some of the best. Rich in taste, perfectly marbled and tender without feeling overly fatty or overwhelming. Everything about the food was perfect. The assorted veggies stood out from the typical Napa cabbage and enoki mushrooms served up at most spots. A bowl holding some of the freshest and most colorful array of veggies came out to accompany one of 3 appetizer options. We shared amongst family and every single one was amazing in its own right. A perfect balance of flavors and textures. All our drinks were chef’s kiss and the desserts were not too sweet.
The real star of the night though, is REIKA! We all agreed she gave the best service we’ve ever experienced from any establishment, anywhere in the world. That is saying a lot, as most staff in Japan give excellent service. She was on top of everything. Warm. Friendly. Accommodating. And went above and beyond (looking something up for us, hand-folding personalized origamis for several of us mid-service, and was overall very personable and sweet!) our family wanted to take her home 😂. Reika set the perfect vibe, had amazing energy, and gave us an amazing shabu experience. 10/10 highly recommend. We might be...
Read moreWhat a dining experience, with a fabulous backdrop of Shibuya.
We were extremely lucky to bump into a local lady who spoke English practically within minutes of arriving in Shibuya and she ended up being our real, live “Google”. We got on like a house on fire and decided to do lunch – she chose the venue, and we were soooo pleased she did; we’d never heard of shabu shabu and there’s no way we’d have made it to Tsukada Shabu Shabu without her.
It was a bit of a shock to our European systems to have our lunchtime reservation at 11:30 am, but any later and we wouldn’t have been able to get a table, even though we booked days in advance.
We all ordered the set lunch, which consisted of 30g of pork and Wagyu beef. I personally didn’t think I’d get very far with 30g of meat, but boy was I wrong. The broth was delicious before we started adding the other ingredients, and only got better. Everything was delectable (even the tofu) and nothing needed the soy or sesame sauces that were provided. Slowly adding the different fares to the broth, devouring the delicacies created and chatting away … and nearly two hours just flew by.

Read moreSurprisingly very low service level, where their own rules are more important than customer satisfaction.
I used to be a regular customer and went to have lunch there the other day after a while. I remembered their last order was until 2:30, so I came in at 2:15, but one of their waiters told me that they did not accept entrances after 2pm in a cold and ignorant manner (let alone apologizing for this inconvenience, as any good restaurant would). I told her, I would order right away, so it would be before 2:30. She stubbornly kept saying that they did not accept entrances after 2pm, even though I was only one person , they had a lot of seats and their waiters were not too busy.
Typical Japanese maniacal obsession with their own rules.
Very customer unfriendly, no omotenashi and seem to care only about efficiency? profits?
Why not show some basic flexibility and hospitality, so that your customers have a good experience? Why is it so difficult?
This place used to offer good experience, but as it became touristy, they do not really care about their customers. Fortunately, there are plenty of good shabu shabu and sukiyaki places...
