This was the most homestyle meal I had in Tokyo. It felt like simple classic home cooked food. The staff who worked here were so sweet and super friendly and very kind!
They only have maybe 8 stools so we had to wait just a bit for something to open up. You order and pay first and then wait for a seat if they’re currently all taken. This place seemed to be frequented by locals. I had the braised red miso fish and all the sides were very authentic. The amount of fish is generous.

We decided to try our luck at the basement floors and what a serendipitous find Kinkume was! Hidden in B2, this small eatery (sits only 7 at a time) served up some excellent fish dishes at very reasonable prices. A thick slab of miso-simmered mackerel for only ¥1,800? And so tasty at that. I’m so glad we stumbled upon this place.
Even if there are no seats, do a takeaway. The bento sets look just as good. Come...
