Rinko Park — Attraction in Yokohama

This is where Yokohama goes to exhale. After melting under the city sun, we wandered in and immediately questioned why we hadn’t started our day here, sprawled on the grass like content lizards. The park stretches out in all directions: part skyline backdrop, part ocean view, part “I should’ve packed a picnic” regret.

There’s space for everyone: kids chasing invisible butterflies, couples posing for very intentional “candid” photos, and us, sitting on a bench debating whether standing up again was worth it. The breeze off the bay felt like a personal apology from the weather gods for earlier cruelty.

Bonus points for the random giant fruit sculpture...proof that even art can get sunstroke in Japan.

Rinko Park is absolutely magnificent — a vast, open space that feels both serene and alive. It’s one of those rare places where you can breathe deeply, watch countless dog walkers pass by, and feel part of the city yet far from its rush. The sunsets here are some of the best I’ve seen in Japan — the sky melts into gold and pink over the bay, creating pure magic. 今年も行きました。みなとみらいスマートフェスティバル。 これまでハンマーヘッド、耐震バースで観覧しましたが、この場所は花火の見え方のレベルが違いました。景色も良い。そして今年は風もあり、気持ち良く、良い感じでした。 そして、花火。毎年の事ですが、百花狂乱。本当は百花繚乱が正しいですが、狂乱と呼ぶ方がふさわしいです。 狂乱の末、2025年は火事が発生。途中で中止となりました。笑える。来年以降中止にならない事を祈ります。 ここを経験すると他は物足りなく感じます。競技大会が好きな人には向かないと思います。 一方、スマートフェスティバル運営側(警察も？)への不満が2つ。 1．カメラマン席の設定がおかしい 一般の観覧席では三脚を立てる事が出来ないので、一般の観覧席を予約しても、カメラマン席に行かないと行けない。一般席を予約しても一般席に座る事がないので、意味が不明。そして、会場の場所自体は結構余ってるのに、カメラマン席は狭い。1時間前に到着したものの最前列に並べず。そして、木が邪魔になる。 高い金払っているのにどういう事？本当に腹立たしい。 どうせ一般席に座れないのだから、ちゃんとカメラマン席を設けるべき。 2．交通規制がおかしい。バカなの？と問いたくなるレベル。 桜木町駅は混むので横浜駅に行けとアナウンスあるが、さらに空いている関内駅に行こうとしても、国際橋が通行止めで関内駅に向かえない。 歩道はかなり混んでいるのに、交通規制してて車が通らない車道(臨港パーク入り口、コスモワ－ルド横のさくら通り、横浜新港等)を歩行者専用にしない。ここまで訳の分からない交通規制はなかなか無い。 あと、他の花火大会では車の通行止めの範囲が広いが、この花火大会では車の通行止め範囲はものすごく狭い。 理解に苦しむ。 以降、過去の投稿 2023、2024年...
