Choo Chay Keong Temple also referred to as Yap Kongsi (free entry) is a small building at intersection of Lebuh Cannon and Lebuh Armenian that serves the Yap Clan. It was built in 1924 and is dedicated to the god of prosperity.

Choo Chay Keong features Chinese architecture and design. The exterior is quite elaborate and decorative, particularly the two dragon pillars in front of the temple. The interior is small and has a couple neat things to see included the altar with decorative gilded reliefs. The side room includes a back wall wood carving that is interesting to look over.

You can view the Choo Chay Keong Tempel conveniently in just a few minutes making it well worth a quick stop when visiting this area of the World Heritage zone in George Town.

Note: There is an associated but smaller temple, Tong Yap Kongsi just across Lebuh Cannon but we're not sure if this one is open to visitations. Just a couple minutes walk down Lebuh Cannon, you can enter the much larger and popular Khoo Kongsi...
