Transported various centuries back , what a lovely place to be. Excellent architecture, magical feel. Access is free & just outside the bus stop . Horse carts available for old people to roam around. Really a must visit. Very cute souvenir shops & cafés . Even if you go when it’s hot, there are several lanes with shadow and cool breeze , that’s how the city is structured that remains cool. The cathedral is stunning , the views of city and sea from city walls is magnificent. Overall very pleasant and must visit . We went in the evening with two kids and really enjoyed walking around and enjoying the history of the area.
Yes, we did feel obliged to give the 'attendant' €1 despite knowing it was free to park there, but he was managing the traffic well and what's €1 really to help a local who has to put up with 100s if not 1000s of tourists every week.
