Read moreThis museum is a beautiful and culturally rich space at a very affordable price ($30 MXN, approximately $1.50 USD). It showcases a diverse collection of paintings, including some of Diego Rivera’s greatest works, as well as temporary exhibitions featuring other artists. Of all the museums in Guanajuato, this one stood out the most for me—it is truly one of the best art museums I’ve visited.
There is a lot to see, and just when you think you’ve seen it all, more rooms and sections unfold, making the experience even more enjoyable. The museum is well-maintained, and the exhibitions are thoughtfully arranged. I also appreciated the historical information provided throughout, as well as the QR codes, which allow visitors to access additional details or even music playlists to enhance the experience.
The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, always ready to explain any piece and answer questions with enthusiasm. While the souvenir shop is small, I personally wished it offered higher-quality items, as I was hoping to find something special to take home.
At the moment they have a temporary Escher exhibition, which was a great bonus. Additionally, one of the highlights in the bonus exhibitions was Amarantocaballero Prado’s “Mil Pájaros Mil”, a stunning display that added another layer of artistic depth to the experience.
While the museum contains a limited selection of Rivera’s works, they are still impressive, and you learn a lot about his artistic journey. Of course, to see his famous murals, you’ll need to visit Mexico City, but this museum remains a must-visit for art lovers.
Highly recommended if you’re...

It can be quick if you just want to glance at the artworks which I saw people doing. As a Spanish learner, I spent about 1.5 hrs here reading the descriptions, translating, and learning new Spanish vocabulary. By the time I got to the temporary non-Rivera exhibitions, I was tired and didn’t really look much at them. Still, I had a great time. A great half-day activity. 30 pesos as of August 2023. Very worth it for...
