We stayed for a weekend in this grand old hotel. It really is grand with five floors and feels quite history. One wing of the hotel is built around a massive old tree - be sure to take the interior elevator up to level 5 to visit the rooftop and see how they have incorporated the tree within the building. ||Overall we had a lovely stay. The front desk team and staff were all very polite and friendly. The only reason I took a star off is there was a random small/tiny water leak in the bathroom (which the housekeeper fixed when she came), and there should be more clarity at check-in as to how to add breakfast to the room rate for those of us who made a booking that did not include breakfast (the hotel serves breakfast daily).||We stayed in Suite 100B with a king-sized bed, shower and balcony facing the street. On booking.com this was listed as a king suite (with balcony in details) and on the hotel website this was listed as a suite superior. It was a lovely room, no doubt. The property does not have a/c but they provide large tower fans. The room was in a small front wing of hotel which set us away from the foot traffic going through the main areas, which was nice. ||We were in town the first weekend of semana santa (so the weekend of Palm Sunday) and there were lots of people in town and festivities going on. There was certainly noise in the streets at night but not super late, and it did not prevent us from having a good rest. You will hear traffic and the occasional loud car with booming music, but when the city goes to bed - it does go to bed - and there will be quiet in the wee hours. If noise at bedtime makes you anxious, don’t book one of these types of rooms. But if you can handle some street noise, you can enjoy the balcony. It wasn’t an issue for us and we enjoyed our stay. In the early mornings we did hear a little of the breakfast crew starting up but that was also not an issue for us. ||The callejoneada tours (evening musical walking tours) do not seem to go past this area (at least, not while we were there), which is a VERY good thing. We went on a callejoneada tour and our group of around 50 people was right outside another hotel, with loud singing and music at 10pm.. glad we were not staying there… ||From other reviews it is clear that some rooms are better than others due to the large variety available. Don’t be afraid to ask to change rooms if you end up with one...
Read moreMy friend and I had the pleasure of staying here for 4 nights, while visiting Guanajuato. We were captivated by the beauty of this hotel - the beautiful blend of colonial with modern design throughout the hotel, also the impeccable attention to detail through out, from the beautiful flowers and plants beautifully and strategically placed throughout the hotel, wonderful patios on the both the 4th and 5th floors (blissful relaxation in the evenings to relax and gaze at the beautiful view that is Guanajuato, after a day of adventure) complete with comfortable and beautiful furnishings, tables, etc. and the thoughtful attention to the rooms (all named after noteworthy poets). But in addition to that, hats off to the fabulous staff at this hotel. Every morning we were warmly greeted by Martin, Fernando and others attending to guests over the delightful breakfast (they were just wonderful - kind, helpful and experts), Lucia, Micaela, Margarita and Andre on the front desk, always warmly available to answer questions, provide suggestions, the bell hops Jesus and Alberto, always at the ready to assist with luggage and of course the cleaning staff who were always visible and dutifully keeping this hotel in a pristine state. This hotel is so beautiful and beautiful run by a wonderful and dedicated group of staff. Such a pleasure to have the opportunity to stay here. We were so sad to leave in fact. Thank you all for such a wonderful stay in your wonderful city. You and this beautiful hotel exceeded our expectations and made our stay in Guanajuato so...
Read moreProbably one of the best hotels available in Guanajuato. Literally in the center of town or very close to. Its off of a one way road- if you drive too fast you will certainly miss it. The front door is small. Then once entering it is surprisingly massive. Its built around a tree (could be called the tree house hotel but poetas sounds much cooler). The breakfast is really good, the wifi works great , the bedrooms are pristine clean. The baggage help personnel were so friendly and Ivan, one of the dudes was super nice and helpful. If you brought your own car they work with a local business to get your car parked somewhere in town. We had no issues having both cars parked for two nights. Cost was what we expected in a small town but with countless tourist. The front concierge were very good and quick to get the rooms for you. Lastly, this place is surprisingly affordable- what you may spend over a regular hotel you save by having everything a tiny walks distance away. Stay here and then walk over to Diego and Frida next door for food or drinks. In the morning hit the Conquistador for coffee, you...
