Parque de Santiago is always great as far as I'm concerned. Has a nice Yucatecan mercado for fruits/vegetables/flowers and assorted other stuff you may need. There are several restaurants inside and ringed around the exterior. Have eaten at several and my choice is La Lupita (one of the two inside ones - blue tablecloths). But some of the others offer a wider selection. Just be mindful of random locals starting casual conversations and talking to you about sites and stuff you need to check out, then casually leading you to select stores. It’s a trick mostly used by store owners to attend clients. They will tell you lines along the lines of ‘everything else is from China, this is the only real Mayan store’ etc. this happened to us on our first day and we fell for it. Read moreCute, calm, good traditional food near, very good, you do see some homeless people at night but I have gone there almost everyday for the last 3 years, walking on the middle of the night or Dawn (no joke) and nothing has ever happened to me. Also there's a ton of bars near by, so visit if you can.
