The biggest bakeshop I have ever seen and I have only been to the first floor! It's a haven for bread and pastry lovers. I came around 3 pm to buy my afternoon snack and some goodies to take home but was blown away by the amount of baked goods and people flocking the shop to buy their favorites. It's not even peak hours, so I can just imagine it must be crazier in the morning or late afternoon. Good thing is that there are many staff available to assist people with their orders. It would probably help if there's some guide for tourists like me, say, putting a number for each station so as to help which section to go from start (ordering) to finish (payment). Otherwise, most goers would just have to observe what the locals are doing. This is a delight to see nevertheless.

I had seen this store a few times and there were always a ton of customers. It turns out that this place is very popular, so much to the point that people would resell in their own neighborhood. There are lots of people were walking around Historico with boxes of their bread. There was so much variety pastries and bread that I gave up in trying and would just pick one each time someone in front of me would pick one up. I bought a pineapple puff pastry, cream bread covered in powdered sugar, and some sort of cheese cake bread that was half chocolate and vanilla. Each one was delicious. I really liked all my food at Ideal. It is very different from American style bakeries. I would describe the style as something akin to 85 degrees.

made a purposeful attempt to stop by here because i saw how massive this place was on google maps. it is indeed huge and filled with locals. i, a tourist, stuck out like a sore thumb 🤣 you grab a tray, grab whatever pastry your heart desires and then go line up near the back to give you tray to the person behind the table, she’ll give you a “receipt” and then you go to another person near the corner to actually pay. so many pastries, couldn’t decide and just randomly grabbed two and they were decent. for the price, atmosphere and experience, you can’t beat it! spent about $1.50 USD on 2 pastries only downside is there’s no place to sit after you purchase your pastries 😢 had to stand in the corner for a bit to take a bite lol

Came to buy some cookies to gift as a souvenir. Overall it’s a big bakery and a little instagramable. However, the system is slightly outdated and horrible. Went around 6pm on a Tuesday evening and glad because this place seems to always be busy. The system to buy cookies is to walk to the cookie station, order, walk across the bakery to pay, walk back, and wait for someone to help you out. People were slightly passive aggressive lol I asked for them to just give me a variety of shortbread cookies to equal half a kilo. At the time the currency exchange rate was $16.60, so it was roughly $4.81 for half a kilo of assorted cookies. $80 pesos.

This is a great place for pan dulce, one of our favorite spots in Mexico City! We visited a couple of times and loved the amazing varieties, from savoury empanadas to sweet concha. We even spotted a gigantic cake and a rosca de reyes, imagining the joy of a family gathering to share these festive treats! The vibe is lively and fun, with everyone leaving with trays full of goodies and big smiles. Everything we tried was delicious. In the morning, the displays were full, and while it was busy, the line moved quickly. By the afternoon, most items were sold out—so go early! A must-visit for pastry lovers in Mexico City.

Majority of the bakery contain sweet pastries, while the savory items are located in the front left side of the store. I loved the empanadas and tried the majority of flavors - highly recommend the cochinita pibil, mole verde chicken, and spinach with mushrooms. Their sweet pastries were also delightful and not too sweet for someone who doesn’t like overly sweet pastries. They have this two layer custard cake that is amazing. I strongly regret not buying more despite walking out with two large platters of pastries for 10 USD. We stopped here to pick up pastries before flying out! Great gift to bring back to folks.
