Xenses is a unique and immersive park located in the Riviera Maya, Mexico, near Playa del Carmen. It’s a sensory adventure that combines various attractions designed to stimulate and challenge your five senses, with a focus on creating a playful and mind-bending experience. Here's a breakdown of what you can expect from a visit to Xenses:
The "Xensory" Tunnel: This is one of the park’s highlights. You walk through a dark, disorienting tunnel where you're subjected to various sensations like different textures, sounds, and temperatures. The experience is designed to evoke the feeling of being in a dreamlike, otherworldly space.
The "Sensory Journey": This includes different rooms and areas where you experience altered senses. For example, you may experience a series of optical illusions or tactile challenges that make you feel like the world around you is different from what it really is.
The River: A part of the park lets you walk through a shallow, flowing river that has been designed to offer a relaxing yet mind-bending experience, as the flow and pressure of the water manipulate your sense of balance.
Family-Friendly Activities Though the park's focus is on sensory experiences, it’s also designed to be family-friendly, making it a great option for visitors of all ages. There are both physical and low-impact experiences, meaning kids, older adults, and anyone in between can participate.
Beautiful and Lush Environment The park itself is lush with tropical plants and beautifully designed pathways. It's both an adventure and a stroll through nature. The atmosphere is peaceful, with an emphasis on enjoying the journey rather than racing through it.
Fun and Relaxing Xenses strikes a balance between fun and relaxation. While it’s playful and visually stimulating, it doesn’t have the adrenaline-pumping intensity of other parks like Xcaret or Xel-Há. Instead, it offers a calming yet exciting environment where guests can explore and engage in various experiences at their own pace.
Accessibility and Logistics Xenses is designed to be accessible to a wide range of visitors. There are paved pathways and clear signage throughout the park. Some of the activities might require some walking, so be prepared for a bit of physical activity, but overall it’s not overly strenuous.
Duration of Visit Most visitors spend around 3–4 hours at Xenses, although you could easily stay longer if you want to take in everything at a more leisurely pace. It’s smaller compared to some of the other theme parks in the area, but the experiences are unique enough to make it worthwhile.
Food and Amenities There are food and beverage options available inside the park, including light snacks and drinks. However, you might want to have a meal before or after your visit, as the park focuses more on experiences than extensive dining options.
Tips Wear comfortable clothes and shoes: Since there are walking paths, water features, and some tactile activities, it's important to wear appropriate attire. Be ready to engage: The experiences at Xenses are all about interacting with your environment, so let go of any hesitations and dive into the activities fully for the best experience.
If you're visiting the region and are looking for something unique, relaxing yet stimulating, and fun for the whole family, Xenses is definitely...
Read moreWhat an amazing morning we had! My fiance, parents and I went here on a Saturday morning in November and all four of us thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Getting to the park was easy, as we were staying at the Occidental Xcaret. Myself and my fiance already had wristbands as we had exchanged our multi-park pass at Xplor Fuego the previous night, but my parents needed to exchange theirs and we had to activate the Photopass. This was simple enough and the staff were helpful.
There are two circuits which go off of the main pinwheel gift shop. Surrounding the pinwheel are also interactive photo points, many of which are optical illusions designed to mess with or engage your senses. We did all of these throughout the day and found them fun, and got some fantastic photos.
The lockers and toilet facilities were really good, clean airy and large enough for lots of people. The park was reasonably busy but the layout of the place meant that it didn't feel like it, which was great.
Town circuit: This was really fun! This circuit is the one you will get the most wet and messy in, and the one with the most active experiences. The first part of this circuit is a walk through a higgledy piggledy upside down quirky world with water that looks like it is flowing uphill, crooked rooms and interactive items. My mum hated it and felt queasy, but the rest of us loved it and thought it was really fun. Don't worry though, at the top there is a spot with hammocks in case you need a lie down! Then there was a waterslide, which was fun, but make sure you launch yourself down using the bar or you won't be in your photo! After this was the bird flight zip line, which was our absolute favourite part of the park - it was a blast! Then there was the relaxing salt river, followed by the mud river and then the rainbow water tunnel. My mum sat out a couple of the experiences, so if you have a member of the party that does not want to zipline but wants to do the rest, they can come with you and just take a slightly different path and then rejoin.
Sense ciruit: The second circuit was more laid back, but we enjoyed it just as much. The first part was a dark walk through that tests all your senses, then this brings you out into the open with lots of interactive things on the way. There were lots of great things on this route that I won't spoil, but definitely don't miss the lemonade from a tree - it was so tasty and refreshing, we all had about five cups!
Photopass: We got the photopass and as a family of four adults, we made a lot of use of it. We have some lovely photos of us, and lots and lots of silly ones of us all together. There are loads of points around the parks to scan your bracelet for a photo, and we must have used every single one of them! I'd recommend the photo pass if you like having lots of pictures of your vacation, especially as most of these are the most unique vacation photos we have ever had!
Food: We bought some snacks at the store, as when we had finished the first circuit around 11am, we were hungry but they weren't serving full lunch. I personally didn't like the sausages in pastry that we had, but that's probably just personal preference rather than anything to do with them. There's a nice outside area to eat with some more Xenses props.
I would 100% recommend Xenses to anyone who is in the area and wants a fun half day activity. This would be great for teens and...
Read moreI was so excited to attend a day at Xenses with my husband. We visited on July 29 (Monday) 2024. The park itself was awesome but there were SERIOUS logistics issues that made the visit stressful and upsetting.
We booked directly through their company and utilized their in house transportation from our resort. We were told that we would be picked up at 8am. To begin with, the bus was over 30 minutes late. We got on bus around 8:40am with travelers also going to xcaret. On our next stop, we were asked to switch busses and ride with people who were going to xplor. They dropped off the xplor people at xplor first, even though their return transportation was at 5pm and ours was 2pm. When we finally arrived at park around 10am, the lines to get in were extremely slow despite having pre bought tickets and filled out waivers on bus. Everyone still had to wait in ticket line. Only half the windows were open although there were many employees standing around talking amongst themselves and trying to sell photo passes. We did not get to enter the park until 11am, three hours after our pick up time. We were told we were due back at our bus no later than 1:45pm for a 2pm departure time. That means we got less than 3 hours in the park.
We wasted no time getting in, and putting things in our locker and went to check out the xensatorium. This was an awesome attraction but we had to wait another 25 mins to enter. Then we went directly to the path of doing and waited 30 mins to go to the water slide. We did everything in succession. Then it was time to go. We had to rush through the town both ways and didn’t have time to enjoy the other attractions. They sold us a food package at the gate and we had to take it to go and almost missed the bus. We didn’t even change out of our wet clothes. Then we were crammed on to a 15 passenger van that was completely full.
I was so looking forward to this date day and felt super cheated. I paid $190 and it felt like a waste of time and money because we didn’t get to enjoy it or relax at all. We needed a whole additional hour at least to experience the park to...
