Yesterday I visited this Coffeeshop. I was very excited to come me to this Coffeeshop and it was the first place I went when I arrived in Amsterdam. When I got there they were doing a shift change so they weren’t serving for 10 minutes whilst that was ongoing however it was still open and jam packed full of people. That was perfectly fine as I did not mind waiting the 10 minutes so I went downstairs and was reading the menu to decide what I wanted when they did start serving again when the man behind the counter started waving his hands at us and telling us to basically go away. We also weren’t the only people there yet he was just doing this to us. We explained to him that we knew they weren’t serving for 10 minutes and that we were just looking at the menu to decide what we wanted when they started serving again. He continued to wave at us and told us to take a picture and leave in a very hostile tone and the woman next to him then joined in and was giving us very nasty dirty looks, yet they said nothing to the Dutch people next to us (we are English). I don’t understand why they felt the need to be rude to customers when all it took was a simple polite sentence explaining and we would have happily obliged. Of course we left and we most definitely won’t be going back and we will advise that people do the same. We went to another bulldog just down the road and noticed the staff there seemed to have an attitude as well. It’s just a shame as rude staff really bring...
Read moreWent to the bulldog coffee shop yesterday after reading people’s postive reviews. It was our first time to a coffee shop and when we got served I asked for 2 beers in bottles as pints are too big for us to finish, the barman said they didnt do beer in bottles so I asked for half pints. The barman straight away started being weird with me saying he’d told me they didn’t beer and saying I have taken drugs and asking where I am from. He was very rude and was doing a creepy smile the whole time like he was on drugs himself. I resorted to 2 coffees which he served on on a tray. I took the tray with our drinks over to our table. He stormed over and took the tray and said again ‘ what drugs have I taken?’ To which my brother went to the bar to ask what the problem was, he said the conversation was over and he’d get security if needed. We had our coffees and left, we spoke to the doorman on the way out to complain about how we were treated he said the barman are use to dealing to people on drugs and drink so he apologised and advised the bulldog shop down the street from the first did alcohol but not this one.
Bad experience and wouldn’t recommend. All the barman had to say was they didn’t serve alcohol but instead to be treated the way I was, there was no need, needless to say the bars do good beer but didn’t try...
