Urban Café — Restaurant in The Hague

Café directly across from the Central Library entrance. The contemporary furniture and colorful surroundings make this a pleasant café for grabbing a favorite hot or cold drink and checking emails with the free WiFi.

Several types of coffee and cappuccino as well as fresh mint tea is available together with an assortment of muffins and cakes. When I dropped in people were doing homework and reading newspapers or magazines (Dutch language). Seating includes a large arced table with single chairs near the window looking out onto the Spui and two and four person tables. There are comfortable sofas and a coffee table for more relaxed encounters.

The café is only open until 5:30 on most days (one day it closes at 5), which makes no sense when the library hours are taken into account. Why not open late and close when the library closes? In addition, given its proximity to the Filmhuis and Cinema Plex, later hours might make sense.

I ordered a large fresh mint tea and a Hummingbird taart for a total of 7.90. Reasonably friendly service from the barista. Mostly college aged crowd. Middle aged customers circling around looking at the furniture and home decor items on offer at the Hulshoff Design Center sharing...

This is the place to be! Join with a friend, come for a meeting, bring your laptop, feel free to do any of that. This place is a comfy Cafe shop in which you can visit any time of the day for any reason. If you find that the library is not your cup of tea then go "next door" to enjoy a different kind of vibe. I ate a really good panini in which I did not have high expectations as it had lots of Italian ingredients in it, but it turned out to be really tasty, crunchy and full of flavor. Next to it a flat white. All together only €8.25! The service was top. What else do I need to say? My only concerne can be for the amount of space. Visit and see if you can have a free spot. Well, I must say woow, it was a great experience there. As I have only Mastercard, which is not accepted anywhere, I was afraid I couldn't pay with it, but the waitress was very very nice and her attitude alone deserves a number 10 on a scale from 1 to 10. The coffee and cheesecake I served was also very tasty. Good ambience, nice serving, and yes, Mastercard is accepted, so if you are in the area or you're looking for a place where you can enjoy a good Italian coffee, I highly recommend...
