Boutique Hotel First City — Hotel in The Hague

Hotel seems to be new-ish and they are ironing out the kinks.||On the positive side: ||Super friendly staff, very helpful and personable.||Great location. Not far from the main station and a tram stop in front of the door, which will take you directly to the sea.||Irish pub on the premises, with a nice bar. The music is not too loud and does not spill over into the hotel.||Room to have coffee and tea and just sit.||Nice breakfast.||Good shower.||A safe.||An elevator.||Lot's of restaurants close by.||Clean rooms (at least at the start)||||The rooms are small. I shared a room with a colleague and even though it was billed as a double room, it was small for that use. We made it work, but it would have been better for one.||||The only minus was a problem with the cleaning of the rooms. There must have been some issue with staffing, because no one cleaned our room for our entire stay (4 days). Not a word as to why. Very strange. I can't imagine that this was the norm. Other people I know who stayed there at the same time had at least partial cleaning, or at least garbage emptying. ||||Other than this, a good find at a good price in the middle...

Save yourself and your money. Don’t go to this hotel. Complete discrepancy between price and quality. We were in catastrophic discontent and did not get enough sleep at all.

The hotel offers a choice of either one double bed or two single beds, why in the end, instead of a single bed, I get shifted double beds between which there is a 15 centimeters hole ?! The view on the wall just made me laugh, despite the fact that the administrator said that is her favorite number. Cleaning the room is a separate laugh, the kids make the beds better. Everything else was not washed or changed at all. don’t have refrigerator and kettle in the room. Absolute lack of soundproofing due to which the alarm clock can be heard in the next room. The clean women comes to do the cleaning at 9:30 !!! I sleep at this time, you don’t bang on the door. One day, a fire alarm went off for a minute at 9 am. As you can imagine, in this hotel I didn't get enough sleep at all. The size of the room also leaves much to be desired,...

The staff and the location was great. Really easy to get transport links etc and the staff were very friendly and helpful. However the room was bad. We were told that the room was one of the new ones ground floor) but it had what I can assume is coffee stains on the wall, one of the bedside lights was not working, the huge round coat hangers were falling off the wall. Even the set up of the whole room was weird & the bathroom was so small for the size of the room. One of the outlets was not working and the heating/cooling system was broken. The room faces the bins and is overlooked by apartments when you walk out and has no windows apart from a small skylight & the walls were quite thin so we could hear the room next to us. It’s like they started building it & then didn’t have money to properly finish it so just did the bare minimum. I however will say they cleaned the room daily (did not change the covers though) which was welcomed. It’s a fine hotel but certainly not all the rooms are what is presented...
