We had the pleasure of visiting a cheese farm in Zaandam as part of our group tour, and I’m so glad it was included in our itinerary. The experience was both educational and enjoyable from start to finish. Our visit began with an engaging introduction to the history and traditional process of cheese-making in the Netherlands. It was fascinating to learn how cheese was discovered and how it continues to be produced using age-old techniques. The staff were knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about their craft. After the short presentation, we were invited to sample a wide variety of cheeses in their shop—and let me tell you, every single one was delicious! I'm not even a huge cheese person, but I found myself wanting to bring everything home. If only I could have packed it all in my suitcase and brought it back to the U.S.! Each flavor was rich and distinct, and the quality was undeniably top-notch. We also picked up some adorable souvenirs to take home and share with friends and coworkers. The gift shop was well-stocked with cute, authentic items that captured the charm of the place. If you’re planning a trip to the Netherlands, I highly recommend adding this cheese farm in Zaandam to your itinerary. It’s a delightful stop that offers a taste of Dutch culture—literally and...
Read moreFrom the moment I stepped into the Cheese Museum in Zaanse Schans, I was hit with the delicious scent of cheese. As a cheese lover, I was excited to learn about the history and production of cheese in this charming museum.
The Cheese Museum is a small but informative museum that takes visitors through the process of cheese making, from the milking of cows to the aging of cheese. The exhibits are well-designed and interactive, with videos, photos, and even a few cheesy puns to keep visitors engaged.
One of the highlights of the museum is the opportunity to taste different types of Dutch cheese. The samples were delicious and I found myself wanting more. The staff members were friendly and knowledgeable, answering any questions I had about the cheese making process.
Aside from the exhibits, the museum also has a shop where visitors can purchase a variety of Dutch cheeses to take home. I ended up buying a few different types of cheese and they did...
Read moreGreat place! You should go there if you want to go to Zaanse Schans. The museum is free and fun for children (although not a real museum for adults). You can taste all sorts of cheese from the region for free and then you can decide which one you want to buy. We really appreciated tasting all these sorts, that was very nice. Moreover, they have other very good products to buy like quality stroopwaffel made with honey (among the bests I had the chance to taste) or regional mustards to eat with your cheese. That's really worth a visit if you spend the day at the village (not necessarily to learn something, but to experience Holland's local products). That's at this shop that we bought wonderful small tasty presents for our family. We really liked it! N.B.: Go there for the local products and you will be delighted, don't go there for the museum (which is, as already mentioned, very small and not very...
