Piano Traders Ltd — Attraction in Albert-Eden

Piano Traders has been my first port of call for anything musical since 1971, when I bought my Weinbach from them. The reason is at once strange and simple. I had worked hard for two years saving for a grand. One Friday night, realising I had enough money, I made my way up Queen Street from the waterfront intending to try out pianos with a view to purchase. All three of the other major piano shops refused outright my request to play, two going as far as to say that "someone like me" didn't need a grand and that I would be better off with an "old banger". The only shop left was Piano Traders. Bill Broberg let me play anything and wrote my name down, saying I could have the next Weinbach which came in. True to his word, he rang several months later and offered me a new Weinbach. I still have it. You cannot judge somebody's ability to buy or play by his appearance. Apparently Bill was the only salesman in Auckland to realise this obvious fact.

Pity they didn't retain the Weinbach franchise, but in general I cannot speak highly enough of Piano Traders and its staff...

I recently purchased a piano from Piano Traders about a month ago, and I couldn't be more pleased with the experience. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, guiding me through the selection process with patience and expertise. The delivery was prompt and smooth, and the piano itself is fantastic—beautifully tuned and in excellent condition.

I was prepared to spend $$$ on a digital piano but despite being in the store for about 10min browsing at different models, nobody offered to assist me. There was a customer at the counter asking the poor assistant all kinds of inane questions (e.g. where to get a black & white photo of a musician) (?!), so I appreciate that the person was a bit busy BUT under the circumstances a simple "with you in 5 minutes) would have been appreciated. There was also somebody cleaning pianos who ignored me as well. I went elsewhere and got excellent assistance within 20sec of walking in the door. I recommend some customer service...
