Amazing tourist attraction. The thermal pools were very lovely and hot you can see the steam wafting off the pools as you walked around. The walk around the lake took about half an hour with lots of places take pictures and create new memories. At the mud pools they have this place at the start of the walk we can dip your feet and and feel the temperature of the thermal pools but has not recommended that you walk into the thermal pools themselves as it was very boiling and hot. This is a place where I take my daughter again when she's a little older and can walk herself. I think she would have enjoyed this very much if she was on asleep the whole time. And it was a great place to get some new memories with her grandad and Nana.

Personally I started out not liking this *at all, owing to the outdated and/or misleading photos under the Google search results. But, after walking through you are seemingly distracted by a sense of deep contemplation and a degree of sadness. **My advice would be to firstly visit Lady Knox Geyser for the talk and Geyser display and then come here. You'll be bound to 'rethink' how you conduct your life in terms of your contribution to maintaining the quality of life and nature and how we as humans impact the Earth which God has created. Perhaps when visiting, DO NOT expect Mud Pools with the steady geothermal activity as seen in pics but instead be greeted by a a simple arrangement of what some would call a geothermal waste land (this is not a derogatory term but instead a term to use which emphasises the human impact on our land). Seemingly heartbreaking to witness and humbling in a sense. That being said, IT IS AN ACTIVE AND UNSTABLE AREA.

Kuirau Park is free to visit and located within an easy walk from the city centre, just off Pukuatua and Ranolf streets. Parking is also free. Several walkways take you through the park to see the crater lake, mud pools, hot springs, and a free thermal foot bath, all set in a beautifully manicured setting dotted with flower beds and native flora. Kuirau Park is also great place to play and picnic, with barbecues, picnic tables, children's playground and toilets. If you visit on Saturday, you'll be lured by the wonderful aromas of the food vendors and the beautiful fresh produce at the farmer's market held every week from 6am to 1pm – perfect for breakfast or lunch!

Tranquility at its finest, this beautiful park is so unique with its bubbling mud pools, steaming hot thermal waters, beautiful trees, flowers, ponds, playground & intertwined pathways with seats spread around to sit & be with nature. The newly furnished hot thermal foot pools are a must & must visit for all tourists & locals. Truly is a magical place where if you love to take photos even the Pukekos stop for you to capture them on film. All my pics are raw, no editing or filters just pure beauty.

The quieter part of Kuirau park. There are two lakes here, a playground, an enclosed geothermal area and various green spaces and picnic benches. I believe this is also where the Toot n Whistle miniature railway used to be. The geothermal area is much more muted and less impressive compared to the stuff to be seen further up the park so I wouldn't bother with it. The playground is very well equipped with facilities for kids of all ages. The usual water fountain and public toilets nearby.

Great way to see geothermal processes in action, and in a freely accessible park in Rotorua. There’s a nice circular walk around the park, and plenty of free parking available. In the evening when the temperatures drop the steam activity really increases and you can see from the adjacent roads which is what drew me to visiting the park. Also in the park are freely available geothermal foot baths. Plenty of seating around. Might feel a bit too hot at first! But you get used to it and relax.
