I've been to a Daiso here or there so I knew what I was getting when I stepped into this shop. It's quite crowded with narrow aisle and tall shelving that is fully stocked with all sorts of things that would be very useful in a smaller apartment. Toys, shelving, cookware, flatware, desk organizers, tiny appliances, kitchenware, clothing, pens and pencils and more. It's a great opportunity for gifts and if you're paying attention, you'll realize how much of this stuff is quite useful. I opted for a pretty little bowl (probably to be used for soy sauce) and a velcro cable organizer. Easy to ring them up and be on my way.

To those enjoying Japanese various items, this is a great place to be. Selling cute stuff in small packages starting at NZD 3.5, many items can be bought at NZD 10 for 3. There are items which are more expensive than that as well. You can get cute stationeries, Sanrio collections of many things, Japanese dinnerwares and kitchenware, accessories, cute pillows, storage items, cosmetics and more. You can also get those cute calenders that my kids love so much. The store might be a bit packed but it has clear signed of the racks and the items. They also have sale too. Good to check it out frequently

Wow. There is some bloody good stuff in this shop. Cheap too. If your looking to tidy your pantry or any cupboard, they have a range of containers. BUT, take your measurements with you so you can get the right size first time. I highly recommend this shop to anyone and everyone to check it out. I'll definitely be visiting this shop next time I'm in Wellington. The plates in the photo are perfect size for our kitten. I need to buy more so I can just put in dishwasher lol

The products are great — no complaints at all about the quality. However, there was a disappointing moment in the customer service experience.

I had a simple question: Can a product be exchanged for another one of the same price, without a receipt, immediately after purchase (we had just left the store for 15 seconds)? I completely understand if the answer is no — all I hoped for was a clear, straightforward reply.

The staff member (round face girl) responded, “You don’t have a receipt,” and when I asked again, “So it’s not alright?” she looked into my eyes with an impatient expression, said, “no… Just wait for a couple of minutes.” So I thought there would be a solution since she let us wait, But after that, she didn’t make further contact, eye contact, or explanation, and simply left us waiting beside the cashier. Then another staff member came to the counter, who wasn’t attending any customers, but there was no handover or assistance offered either.

I work in customer service myself, and I understand how important clarity and kindness are — especially in moments like this. Even if something can’t be done, taking a second to acknowledge the customer properly can make all the difference.

It’s a small thing, but it left an awkward impression in an otherwise good experience. I hope the team can be just a bit more mindful going forward — because the products are excellent and deserve equally...

A "two-dollar" shop with a difference, the interesting stock is Japanese and there is a wide selection covering all kinds of niches, from stationery to beauty care, hair care, kitchen supplies, hardware, etc. and stuff that you have not seen before (such is the creativity of overseas manufacturers). The shop is well-organised, attractive and larger than appears from the street as the back-end flares into a wider enclave.

There is a constant stream of visitors and prices appear to be reasonable. It makes for interesting browsing and then gift-shopping because it is not difficult to find irresistible items that you need or want. Don't worry, staff will make this an easy, painless process. DW is centrally located in Manners Street and handy to...
