On top of the very inflated price because of an event, When I booked it was stated a credit card would incur a 2% surcharge so I used a debit card not realizing they would still charge the surcharge. No option to pay upon arrival to avoid the surcharge. Then when I checked out and paid for parking, I was asked not to use the pay wave option because it "incurs extra fees". Room service is offered all night from 9pm to 6 or 7 am, this is stated on the late night menu. When i called to order around midnight, it took a very long time for the call to be answered. The man on the other end sounded sleepy like he had just woken up. When I stated I wanted to order some food he replied with "at this time?" He then told me it would take 35 to 40 mins as he needed to heat the cooking appliances up. When I pointed out the menu clearly states room service is offered all night he said "yes but I still need to heat everything up" then suggested we walk up the road to McDonald's instead! Do not offer a service if staff aren't prepared to follow through. The room was not worth what I paid it was tiny and very stuffy. We found crumbs in the bed. The fan was handy since there is no air con unit. Bathroom clean, but no where to store toilet bag and shower had no door just a curtain that didn't keep the water in at all. Besides the handy location, nothing else was great about this experience. I won't recommend staying here and I definitely will not...
Read moreAppalling display of customer service and services in general, parking was full so they said it can be handled by a $25 payment and a park at Wilson's parking. It was a blatant lie. Finished only a one night stay, got two fines for parking in the "stated" carpark, $80 a piece. Talked to management (Jody Clark) and said, I quote "you can sort that out yourself, she straight up said your on your own and never even attempt to help fix the problem they forced my into.
Food service was horrendous, one girl told me that she'd charged one of my unauthorized cards without my consent, which was not only against the law but also their policies, the raw price for even just a small meal (thought a buffet) was $30 per person, overpriced slop to say the less. Egg were runny, bacon undercooked, even the juice wasn't safe.
The room looked nice at first but I soon found out how far these guys fell, room was messy, windows had unknown marks, and the shower was the worst of it. Had a shower that I assumed was closed in, leak in shower window covered the tiled floor in water, saturated my clothes, drain didn't save it at all.. ended up exiting the shower after drying the floor I payed for just to find some water even spilled from under the "rubber-locked" door...
Absolutely rude service and terrible facilities. I would say do better but that just not a thing at this place from what...
Read moreDespite what Google or the hotel itself may claim, West Plaza is a two-star hotel with a semi-upgraded lobby area to serve as a facade of sorts. The staff are professional and friendly, but there were times when there was absolutely no one manning the front desk, restaurant area, or bizarre lounge annex. The room itself checked just enough boxes to be deemed minimally satisfactory to feel okay paying money to stay in. The bed was fortunately more comfortable than it looked, but the pillows were all thin, worn, and need replacing. They also did not supply spare pillows or blankets in the stand-alone coat closet like any standard hotel would do by default. The building is indeed several decades old - the rooms and hallways have low ceilings, the carpets are quite dated, etc. - but the staff can prioritize simple improvements such as dusting light fixtures, thoroughly cleaning the corners of the bathroom to remove grime, providing coat hangers that aren't flimsy and decades-old, and replacing bedding that is clearly past its expiry date. The sky is the limit in terms of what management can do to invest in relatively low-cost upgrades to improve the rooms and the guest experience in them, and given the hotel's prime location, I would highly suggest they begin this process if...
