Apart from the guy on the front desk who was great, and the location this hotel sucks. Everything in our room was dirty. Switches and boards had a black layer on the top of them, walls and windows were filthy in both the bedroom and bathroom, the carpet looked like it needed replacing about 8 years ago, there were white stains on the blanket which I'm trying not to think about, every single piece of furniture was very chipped, dented and scratched and then we come to the bed. For a start, no beautiful headboard as the photos suggest, the hardest, oldest mattresses in New Zealand, possibly even the world. They push 2 single beds together to make a king,(which is normal) but because the beds have sagged so much and some of the springs have gone, there is no structural support at all, so you can't sleep anywhere near the middle. The room layout was very strange also, the wall lights and switches were nowhere near the bed but position as though the room should have one single bed. Moving on from sight to sound. I barely slept a wink due to the noise. We were on the 5 floor and even with the windows shut and both set of blinds down, you could hear everything that happened on the street below. Now we stayed on a Sunday night so I don't imagine it would be as busy as a Friday or Saturday night, which just begs the question of what guests staying those night have to endure. You could hear every other guests coming and going also. Overall it was an incredibly disappointing stay and I will definitely not be staying here again. Bare in mind with my photos my camera has an autofilter so it is showing the room in...
Read morePros: Conveniently located within walking distance of many Wellington attractions, including Te Papa museum, pickup for Weta Workshop tour, assorted dining options, etc. Room included mini fridge, electric kettle, tea and coffee. Beds were heated (well, 50% -- more on that below). A weather forecast was slipped under my door in the morning. Staff interactions were pleasant, and I was able to check my luggage at the desk while I walked around town (though the baggage storage area is not secure).
Cons: Room was small and dated, with an odd layout, chipped paint and stained carpet. Windows did not seal completely, which led to howling wind noise (Wellington is the windiest city in the world) and rain seepage. Lots of traffic and street noise -- I was on the 6th floor and could clearly hear people talking on the sidewalk, as well as the chirps every time the crosswalk light changed. (I finally had to put my head under a pillow in order to get to sleep.) I could not get the heater in my room to turn on at any point. Shower had not been cleaned since previous occupant, as there was hair in it. Oddly, while there was the usual dual-control heated pad on the queen-sized bed, there was only one outlet near the bed, so only half the bed could be heated. Wifi, while free, was unreliable and disconnected me every 15 minutes or so.
Overall: Not a terrible experience (I've certainly stayed in worse), but not the most comfortable or luxurious hotel I've encountered in New Zealand. The price is decent for the location, but there's definitely a trade-off...
Read morefirst stayed at Trinity in October 2023 and had such a great time decided to come back this year.... and it didn't disappoint - both experiences have been awesome and will definately be returning. ||Staff were super helpful both pre checkin and also when we stayed. First time we got in quick enough to get parking at the hotel, second time we were late in organising but they took care of this for us by organising parking across the road - such an easy experience. Lot the instructions and information they send out pre arrival. ||Room is basic but thats what the site indicated and thats what we wanted and expected, rooms are super clean and tidy, beds are mazing, linen is perfect with no concerns at all, plenty of pillows, blankets, electric blanket and a wall heater that does an amazing job. ||Tea and coffee making facilities in the room and a great little fridge - everything is clean and in great condition so no worries there. ||Locataion is perfect for inner city adventures, no worries about returning in the evening, well lit up and plenty of open spaces and visibility. ||The Arborist Eatery - a must do for breafast or brunch and the Roof Top Bar another must do for pre dinner drinks. ||The team were amazing, couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful, from those that checked us in, those with recommendations re where to get transport and great places for meals, those that helped us with parking and the staff in the rooftop bar and aborist are so lovely... once can be a fluke but two awesome experiences is clearly how...
