It’s the best power site we ever stayed! It’s aesthetically pleasing and beautiful The power site that’s outdoor is fantastic, with views of the lake and the mountains, they paid a lot of attention to the design of the place, the landscaping provides privacy yet openness the lighting is positioned in a way that it doesn’t disturb our sleep but provides visibility at night. The facilities are housed in one building, the building is also aesthetically pleasing and beautiful on the outside as they decorated it with wood pillars and plants, the doors are positioned in a way that is prevents cold air from blowing in from the outside. The bathrooms are on opposite sides of the hallway, the bathroom is almost spotless except for some spiders, the floor has this warm grey tone and marble pattern and is very nice and non slippery. The walls are decorated with different shades of green bricks and the bathroom is also equipped with a hair dryer and hair dresser though I wish they have a place to store your toiletries within arms reach when you bath. The kitchen is large and spacious, with 2 islands in the middle with stoves that are either inductor or electric, at the end of the kitchen are the sinks, there’s also 2 barbecue areas, each with 2 bbq grills each one is at the balcony next to the kitchen. The dining area and the kitchen is amazing, the tables are wood and have a very nice design, they decorate everything perfectly. I love the views you can get from the balcony which has the barbecue area, there’s an elevator to the lower floor, which has the laundry room and an arcade which our kids love, there’s Pac-Man arcade game, and other classic arcade mainstays, there’s also an outdoor playground with a slide and a trampoline like enormous pillow. We would absolutely come back here again
P.A. Announcement for would be travellers The kitchen closes for cleaning at around noon The reception closes at 8 pm Checkout is at 10 am There’s very fast wifi The kitchen gets a little crowded during peak hours Beware that the toilet might not be in the best of shape if there’re a lot of people, but it’s almost spotless...
Read moreDriftaway Queenstown is a modern, family-friendly holiday park located on the shores of the Frankton Arm of Lake Wakatipu, just minutes from Queenstown Airport and the town center. The park is relatively new, having opened only in March 2022, this lakeside park offers a fresh take on holiday camping with excellent facilities, stunning views, and a welcoming atmosphere. We have visited several holiday parks during our trip, and Driftaway Queenstown stands out for its immaculate cleanliness and contemporary design. We especially loved the large communal kitchen, which is fully equipped with plenty of cooking appliances and utensils, pots, pans, and multiple cooking stations, making meal preparation easy and enjoyable. The bathrooms and showers feature flexible shower heads, good water pressure, and ample heated water. They are spacious, modern, and hotel-like in quality, contributing to a very comfortable stay. One of the standout features is the location: nestled right on the lake with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, guests can enjoy relaxing mornings watching the sunrise over Lake Wakatipu. The park’s proximity to Queenstown Airport-just a short walk away-and convenient access to bus routes and water taxis make exploring the wider area hassle-free. The staff are friendly and efficient, maintaining a well-organized and welcoming environment. Read moreWhat an amazing place! I would never have imagined somewhere so picturesque to be so close to an airport. ||I stayed in cabin 4 which is a standalone triple-share cabin with no ensuite, so you need to use the shared facilities. All bed linen and towels were provided. I think #4 was the perfect spot as it was very close to the shared facilities but with one cabin (5) as a buffer from the BBQ/games area. All of the cabins are super close to the facilities though, and close to where you park. The cabin had cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils, a chopping board and a microwave, kettle and toaster. I did very basic food prep in my room and washed up at the outdoor BBQ sink. There's a little dish tub and tea towel in your cabin. There's no sink or tap in the cabin but they do provide drinking water in the fridge to drink and boil in the kettle.||The cabin was well sound proofed, a rowdy group of guys rocked up at the beach in front of the park around sunset and they were very loud while sitting out on the balcony, but I could barely hear them from inside with the door shut. It was super quiet at night and I had a great sleep.||The whole park is modern, clean and new. The ladies bathrooms had two hair dryers and even a straightener for shared use.||I didn't head into Queenstown itself as I was starting a road trip further south, so I can't comment on the location in that respect. I went for a lovely stroll along the lake and sat by the water. There's a big shopping centre less than a 5 min drive from the park that has Kmart, Woolworths supermarket, pharmacies, basically any shop...
