Frankton Ale House 金悅 — Restaurant in South Island

This was honestly the worst Chinese I have ever had in my life and I wish I was exaggerating. The staff were really nice and pleasant to deal with at first and were happy to accomodate dietary requirements but once we had a missing dish and then questioned the bill they became unhelpful. We had an additional $30+ on the bill that was unexplained for and then offered our missing dish for “free” even though we had already paid for it. No offer for money back or to throw in some prawn crackers or something, we ended up just walking out after getting no where. Once we got home the food was just terrible. All of it lacking salt and flavour. Probably the most unauthentic and bland Chinese food I’ve ever tasted. For $160 to feed 5 it is beyond disappointing. We also waited quite some time for our order and were the only people in the restaurant bar one table already seated and eating. A barrage of people came after us and were all seated AND eating huge extravagant meals long before our meal was even ready. Really really...

This is without a doubt the worst meal I have ever experienced. The restaurant was freezing, we sat at the table in our jackets. The menu was hard to interpret, in fact the waitress had trouble translating the Chinese version to us in English. The entree arrived after the first main meal was served, we had twenty minutes until the second meal arrived and then a further ten minutes till the final three meals arrived. The meals were basically inedible, we paid and left and went through the McDonald's drive through. It is truly the worst dining experience I have ever had. I didn't get what I expected. I ordered two combinations rice. Way too much off soy sauce and the staff does not speak good English or understand it much. What I felt was they are more concerned about the Chinese tourist than any other. Why I say this because on the day me and my wife visited. There was a big set up for a Chinese group and once they arrived in between our order, more attention was given to them. So we felt a bit kept aside and disrespectful to be honest.
