Read moreLovely park with lots for the kids to explore and enjoy. Very close to the zoo and a handkerchief sized Japanese garden. Lots of beautiful birds including black swans. There are also many eels in the lake. The playground is extensive but has limited scope for smaller children. It includes a huge Mad Max-esq slide ensconced in a metal cage. Not sure who is designing Auckland’s playgrounds these days, but many of them are huge and have a very dystopian vibe. Still, the children appear oblivious, so perhaps it doesn’t matter much.
