Whenever I see a fortress I am transported to a time where I would be holding a bow and arrow and defending my castle walls! ARMS AT THE READY….. AIM…….. HOLD…… HOOOOOOOLD….. FIRE!

No! I’ve missed! They are scaling the walls. Quick another arrow notched and ready and fly! I got them! We are winning! Yes! wait…. is that…. no it can’t be…. ARCHERS TAKE COVER!!!

The ships have catapults… they have released boulders at the tenfold. I watch helpless as they hit the walls. My friend Johnny… he’s gone. Fallen. Another casualty lost to the line of defence. But he’s more than a just a body. He was my friend. He held my son in his arms. And now he’s gone.

If I am to go down, I will go down fighting. Turn left, turn right. I count 16 men. 16 from 50. The odds could be worse. A long deep breath.
