Torgallmenningen — Attraction in Bergen

Our hotel was at one end of this beautiful pedestrian zone. We were using this zone few times everyday during our stay. At the other was famous Fish Market. This entire zone had a lot of restaurants, cafes and shops. It was quite wide, so it never looked crowded unlike other pedestrian zones in Europe. Torgallmenningen, formerly written Torvalmenning, is a street, square or wide avenue in the center of Bergen. It stretches from the square in the northeast to King Olav Vs plass in the southwest. From Strandgaten and south-west it is closed to car traffic, and is one of the city's most important social meeting places. The street, like all other public areas in Bergen, was originally a fire street, planned after the city fire in 1582.
