I love attending the Pasinaya festival (CCP Open house) with workshops on the first day and shows on the following day/s. There are plenty of students in groups lining up so it's worth getting a fast pass. No need to fall in line to gain entry. Consider it a donation for the CCP employees who work so hard all year round.
I also go here for the Cinemalaya film festival, aside from UPFI. After watching films, you may check out current exhibitions and drop by the museum shop where they have DVDs of classic Filipino films, art books, and other merchandise. My favorite buy is the "Tuklas Sining" which contains essays on Filipino music, visual art, theater, architecture, film, literature, and dance. An informative overview, and good addition to any library. I remember one of the essays therein was assigned reading back in college.
If you're into continuous learning, they have arts education and audience development programs. And if you fancy being a patron of the arts, you may contribute individually for a minimum of P1,000 by becoming a CCP member, or urge your company to make a corporate donation (min P50,000).
The CCP is also a good spot to be at during golden hour to witness the beautiful Manila...
Read moreI wish I had the option for 0 Stars. I was really excited to have a wedding reception here with my family. Everyone was so nice and welcoming and excited for me when I came to tour the ballroom. When I came to pay the full amount for the ballroom, the gentleman kept making rude, unnecessary comments, for example "I'm so happy you are not my daughter, you're so expensive and the only thing I would do is put you to work here" The whole time I was trying to go over the contract and the plans for the night of reception, he kept making unnecessary, negative comments about me. It was worse, when we had to prepare that day! We had it on a Sunday, but I couldn't decorate the ballroom until 1 pm. It's already stressful as it is preparing for a big night with 250 guests arriving at 5-6 pm! We had reserved the ice machine- didn't work. Had to take people from decorating to buy ice, which costed me more money. You think you're going to get these nice "Conference room A or B that you reserved, nope you get shoved to a tiny dressing room in the back behind the curtains of the ballroom. The supervisor was breathing down everyone's neck and couldn't do this or that! So be carefully if you choose to reserve...
