Every city should be so fortunate as to have a plaza as vibrant, colorful, active and fun as Market Square (Rynek) in Katowice. It is like a more modest version of Krakow's square thanks to a fun late night atmosphere.
In addition to its convenient location --tram lines from all over the city abound-- the Market Square in Katowice keeps up with the festivities of the season through timely decor and activities. For example, you'll find an ice skating rink, hot cider and a ferris wheel in the winter, along with display booths and vendors selling cool things like marshmallows, pineapples, and strawberries dipped in chocolate as well as tiny discs of smoked fried cheese.
And regardless of the season, Market Square in Katowice is always well-lit and well-populated, making you feel pretty safe. Nearby is a tiny fast food place called Monkey Burger that is open as late as 1:00 and has Sunday hours as well. Nice, crispy fries, ketchup included.

While Super Sam and Galeria Katowice are within reasonable walking distance to Market Square, you will find just off of Rynek side streets bursting with a wide selection of bars and restaurants to discover, including the amazing Tajska, a stunning two-story Thai restaurant that has a bar and fragrant, simply delicious food.
To sum it up, Rynek in Katowice is the perfect place to meet up with friends and create a spontaneous game plan for a great night out in Katowice. There's so much to do and it is near everything. It offers a lot but keeps a small, cozy, friendly...
