Nice little archaeological museum that is specialized in the early Poznan founding and surrounding timeframe.
It's quite a quick and condensed museum but still worth a little trip to since you can later go and see what's left of the old city district.
It's start with a video with information about the founding and later developments of Poznan that has several language options available. Was a little wait for us since you enter when a new screening of the video starts but it was only like 10 mins of waiting so not a big deal.
After that you can go see the archaeological findings that they have found and a piece of the old fortification that they have dug up.
Price for entering is 10 zł for a standard adult ticket, but it's completely free to enter on Sundays like we did.
Parking is available right outside of the museum with limited spaces but on a early Sunday it was no problem...
Read moreAbsolutely amazing exhibition, I couldn't like it more. You can learn a lot about how the fortress or Grod of Ostrów Tumski was created. This is really serious archeological site, essential in the beginning of the new Polish state, the epoque of Mieszko, his conversion to christianism, his son Bolesław, the Brave.... Indeed this reserve is the perfect complement of the tombs of the kings inside cathedral, quite close btw.
We could used a the same ticket from the amazing and also close, centre of interpretation Brama Poznania.
The personel of Reserwat was really kind abd helpful and quite happy to welcome visitors. The best is to add to the visit the audioguides offered at the entrance.
Area of Cathedral island/Ostrów tumski is really easy and fast to reach by tram from historical...

This is an archeological site where you can unearth, reconstruct and understand how was the life of the people that used to live on the Cathedral Island more than a thousand years ago.
At Genius Loci Archeological Park you will be able to see the original stone and wooden structures that date back to the 10th century and walk on a glass path on top of the original city walls and embankments. I don’t know if this place is for everybody but I loved to be able to see how Poznan looked like...
