Overall, the hostel provides everything you need for basic needs. The shared kitchen downstairs was clean and easily accessible for when we needed it. The room has it's private bathroom so you don't need to worry about being grossed out when you walk in, we all know how public bathrooms usually are. As mentioned, the rooms are basic but just enough to be okay. I rated it 3☆ mainly because we found a hole in the roof panels, that we're pretty sure was the source of a spider we found later at night. Also no decent air ventilation made being in the room in 33-37 degree weather unbearable, and it was even worse when we opened the window. We also noticed that it probably was not vacuumed after the previous guests, because under the beds there were still small things like single coins. And dust. Everywhere.
The service and staff were very nice, the room was ready on time and we had no problem finding the place. You can order a breakfast if you ask them the day before, but we never used that opportunity. You can buy cold drinks but expect slightly higher prices than unusual (3pln for water, 6.50pln for sweet drinks) It's a good emergency option, but there was a Żabka 5 mins away on foot.
Speaking of the location, it's right on the edge of one of the prettiest areas of Old Town I've walked to. There's an amazing cafe called Ovo Pracownia right around the corner which i recommend with...
Read moreWe arrived with a group of 7 persons on a Saturday afternoon and we stayed till Tuesday morning. We had 2 rooms for 2 persons and 1 room for 3 persons which was as requested when making the reservation. We had to share 3 bathrooms between 9 rooms but with a little bit of organizing this works out well. The bathrooms were thoroughly cleaned every morning and sound insulation between the individual rooms proved to be excellent. Large towels are issued on arrival upon request. Breakfast is also served upon ordering the evening before and at a very modest cost, one cannot complain about the selection. There are coffee and tea making facilities in the communal kitchen and one has to do the washing up afterwards of the dishes and cups/beakers. There is 1 large fridge/freezer in the kitchen where one can store your personal food items if you prefer so. In view of its central location near the historic old town and the vicinity of a pub/restaurant just opposite the entrance, this the ideal location for a low cost overnight stay. Oh yes, each room has a flat screen TV and there is a pool table in the basement and a large flat screen TV and computer for the guests near the reception desk. There is also...
Read moreThe facilities are quite basic, nothing particularly outstanding. What left me a bit disappointed was the service and overall experience. Around 9:30 in the morning, there was loud vacuum cleaning in the hallway, which made it difficult to rest. Although the official check-out time was 11:00, I received an urgent call from my university regarding identity matters, so I had no choice but to stay in the lobby to work on my laptop and handle the issue (using headphones to avoid disturbing anyone). I also went out briefly for lunch, but altogether I stayed until around 4 p.m. On top of that, the weather suddenly dropped from 28°C to 14°C, and since I didn’t have proper clothes for the cold, staying inside was the only option. At that time, there were only two reception staff in the lobby. Later, one of them came over to tell me that since I had already checked out, I could not stay that long. I fully understand this is the rule and within their right, but the way it was handled didn’t feel very friendly. If I were the manager, I would show more flexibility in such a special situation. Just a small piece of feedback from...
