Páginas Tantas — Attraction in Lisbon

Didn’t open until about 10:30 so we expected to see live music but unfortunately it wasn’t on. Chairs were very uncomfortable and bar allows smoking which isn’t pleasant for a none smoker. Our main disappointment was with payment method. We ordered 2 drinks and asked to change 1 of the drinks about 30 seconds after ordering but were told we were unable too as it had already gone through the till, but had not yet been made. We were then presented with the €13.50 bill expecting to pay immediately and paid with€20 note,expecting change after 10 mins we asked only to be told the bar manager deals with this. An American family then left the venue after an apparent disagreement over the bill. I then had to ask the bar manager direct for my change as I was worried it was some sort of scam. He told me we should wait and relax before sorting payment, fair enough if so don’t present me with the bill and expect me to pay and await change this way after each drink. Seems a strange way to pay to me why not just settle one bill at the end...

It was the most strange experience in my life. They call themselves "jazz bar" with live music. We came there after 10 pm. I tried to know, when the live set is gonna start. That was really hard question, because everything depends on the owner. When he says, that the band can play, they are playing. And, it's better" don't ask the owner when", because " he will be mad and start to shout". The first time, that I realized that smt is not right, was when the drummer helped to load up the car with beer etc. The all service is very nice and helpful, the musicians also. Drums and piano was more like jazz at the cruise ship than a real concert. Of course they were good instrumentalists. We were waiting there over 45min , and at that time 3 tables left, because of "still waiting for live music". U can't feel there an artistic mood. For sure I won't...

The musicians are doing fine job entertaining people whether some of the songs are covers or not. But this place is a typical "touristic place". Bad seats, terrible coctails, no customer satisfaction in mind etc. Taste is something relative but e.g. a bad pineapple is a pineapple juice. The difference is always there. Nevertheless one of the staff was not decent enough to bring a lemon slice... In short, if you only care about the music (which almost always starts late) then get a bottled drink and you will be all right. Else find a better place.
