This was our last night of a 4 night stay in Lisbon and after 2 very good meals and one not so good we were hoping for a pleasant evening and great food. We chose Volta dos Sabores at random and we were not disappointed! All the outside tables were occupied so we decided to sit inside. We were welcomed by the manager who quickly established our nationality and brought us menus. We were using a combination of Spanish, Portuguese and English but later in the evening she easily switched to French for some other guests. We ordered wine and water both of which arrived promptly. As the manager took our orders, she also took time to repeat everything and explain the features of each dish. For starters we chose cod cakes which were creamy on the inside, deliciously crispy on the outside and which came with a very spicy dop. We also had sardines which were fresh and came in a very tasty tomato sauce. For mains we had pan seared Tuna and creamy cod "pie" which were fresh and tasty. However the stand out dishes were the cuttlefish (which was soft and perfectly cooked) and a pork dish consisting of chopped pork, potatoes and vongole (clams) - this was amazing! We had complimentary Ginja to round off an excellent evening. The service was spot on, the environment was calm and relaxed and the toilets were clean and fresh smelling. The total for 4 people with starters, mains, water and wine was a very reasonable EUR 110. I highly recommend a visit to...
Read moreBefore I say anything else: this was the single best mojito I’ve EVER had. This restaurant is in a sea of extremely similar restaurants, and yet it stands somewhat above the rest. The wait staff is beyond friendly, to the point that our server felt like a part of the party. The food ranged from satisfying to excellent - expect to pay about €13 for an entree, €4 for a cocktail, €6 for an appetizer. The best things we had were the “golden grilled” fish (€12.95) and the cod fish cakes (€3 for two). I will warn you: they charge €1 per butter packet, and they will bring those to you whether or not you want it if you order bread. I’ve never been charged for bread and butter separately - usually those come together for one price. And the neighborhood is a loud party scene. Not the restaurant’s fault, but it may mean this isn’t the place for you if you’re looking to have a quiet little night. They also tried to tell us they don’t take credit cards, but they do if you simply say “we have to go to an ATM.” But overall, we had a blast and...

If you’re exploring the Bairro Alto area in Lisbon and looking for delicious food, a lively ambiance, and prompt service, this place is a must-visit.
One of its highlights is the option to sit outside and enjoy your favorite drinks in the fresh air. We decided to have dinner here to make our trip more memorable – and it turned out to be the perfect choice.
For starters, we had garlic shrimp, fresh bread, and olives – a great way to awaken our appetite and kick off the meal. For the main course, we went with the grilled dorade fish, which was absolutely delicious – a fine example of authentic Portuguese cuisine.
When it comes to service, it was both quick and friendly. The owner, Rita, along with her team, made sure our experience was truly special.
All in all, this place offers a perfect balance of taste, service, and atmosphere. With a promise to return, I wholeheartedly recommend everyone to try it at least...
