We stumbled upon Shahi Dawat during our recent visit to Porto. We had a group of 10 people. their food, hospitality, and incredible service left us absolutely blown away. Their owner Parminder and manager Tohin were absolutely amazing. From the moment we stepped inside, we were are greeted with warm hospitality and a welcoming ambience that immediately set the stage for an unforgettable experience.
The menu at Shahi dawat was a true feast for the senses. Each dish showcased the perfect blend of aromatic spices, bold flavors, and stunning presentation. From classic favorites like butter chicken and biryani to unique regional delicacies, every bite was a delightful explosion of flavors.
What truly stood out was the impeccable service. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable, patiently explaining each dish's ingredients and recommending pairings based on personal preferences. Their attention to detail and genuine passion for the cuisine added an extra layer of enjoyment to the dining experience.

Read moreRead reviews on Google and decided to visit for dinner during a family trip to Porto. Glad we did. The place is modest and on a street corner. Interior is clean. We were welcomed and seated immediately by our maitre’d and server, Anjana, who never lost the smile on her face throughout dinner service, even when other customers arrived and needed to be served. Such a lovely person - polite, eager to please, efficient, quiet…a great ambassador for the restaurant. Food took a bit of time as it apparently was prepared on order, and consisted of Masala Chai, Samosas (starters), Prawn Goa, Chicken Karahi (ordered Chicken Saag, but mistakenly got the Karahi), Aloo Jeera, Dal Fry, Tawa Rotis, Jeera Rice, and Onion salad. Appearance and tastes were superb. Although the portions arrived in relatively small bowls, they were more than ample. Tastes and flavors were fresh, on point for spiciness, and well-balanced overall. The meal for three persons set us back approximately 75EU, which in these inflationary times, is on par. A place worth frequenting, based on...
Read moreI went here with my girlfriend, we ordered The Butter chicken and The butter paneer (aswell as naan). It was a busy night and hence the food was delayed about 40 minutes, which happens. No worries there.
When the food arrived however we were surprised to not have gotten rice. Rice was not included (It's €3.50 per portion) . Which is unusual but fine, i just wish we had been informed while ordering. Thankfully The rice arrived just 2 minutes after we asked for it.
When it comes to the food however we found the naan underwhelming. My peshwari naan basically tasted like a plain naan. The curries were tasty, but they weren't your typical butter chicken/paneer curries (makhani). They lacked cream, judging by taste and colour mine had no cream and my girlfriends' about a tablespoon. This didn't seem right, mainly Cause of how acidic The curries were. It was frankly very off balance. And we didn't feel like we got what we ordered.
It was good food, and it was definetly indian, but it wasn't good...
