World Clock Fountain — Attraction in Tverskoy District

One of the interesting things to see at Manezhnaya Square is the Fountain World Clock, just above the Okhotny Ryad Shopping Center.

Here you see a circular glass dome displaying the northern hemisphere with numerous major cities. While in operation, the World Clock dome is supposed to rotate continuously. There are also water spouts filling the basin which surrounds the World Clock.

Unfortunately, we found this interesting fountain to be shut down for restorations during our recent visit to Moscow. While not operating, we were able to see the fountain well from our hotel room at Hotel National. You can also see it from within the Okhotny Ryad shopping centre at the basement level,...

If it could provide some description such as how to tell the time, the history of it, or even some details of the statue etc. would be more helpful.

However, the surrounding environment was good, sitting on one of the benches enjoying the view of the great buildings and beautiful sunshine was a wonderful...

Будучи на немноголюдной в утренние часы Манежной площади, взор мой приковал довольно-таки яркий и необычный фонтан. Сделал фото. По-моему мнению, красивое. На самом деле, как Манежная площадь, так и фонтан радуют глаз, что красиво - то красиво. Все ухожено, облагорожено. Хорошее место как для прогулок, так и для посиделок.

О том, что это не просто фонтан со стеклянным куполом, на вершине которого восседает Георгий Победоносец на коне, а настоящие рабочие часы, купол которых находится прям над ТК "Охотный ряд", я узнал недавно и был еще сильнее впечатлен созданьем этим - БРАВО авторам идеи и архитекторам! (я гость Златоглавой, может быть сильно впечатлительный).

Стала интересна история данного фонтана и принцип его работы - буду изучать. Как говорится, век живи - век открывай для себя...
