I went to the museum and was told off citing that you need to fill a form first after which they will assess if you are eligible to visit or not. On enquiring the reasons I was informed that it's a safeguard measure to prevent 'attacks' against the Jewish community worldwide. I have been to the synagogues and Jewish history museums earlier (as recently as 2 weeks back in Budapest) but never ever heard this reason. The guys at the gate also asked me 'who you are' maybe to know my race/ethnicity to which I just responded with my name. The whole thing sounded kinda insulting and weird to me so I left without filling the form. If someone is still interested I suggest going to their website and going through the instructions, which, I hope they...

Situated behind an unassuming door, and then another door, a stairwell and another door in an apartment building - we almost missed it altogether. It is a very dated and worn museum in need of a benefactor to spruce it up and revise it to 2022. The displays cover an intriguing history of a Jewish community that existed in this corner of Europe for 2000 years, although it recent years has shrunk to only a couple thousand individuals. It doubles as an archive, where active research is also happening, and all their documents are being digitized. Worth a visit for Jewish history aficionados- but just know...
