Russian Roulette Coffee in Siberia Camping Ground
I always thought my favorite cafeteria was just thatâa nice spot for coffee,, and some people-watching. Little did I know, it would become an immersive experience in Russian alternative culture!
Imagine this: you walk in, craving your usual cappuccino, and suddenly feel like youâve wandered into a Siberian base camp. A small but determined group of alternative scene Russians have claimed this place as their own. Theyâre not just patrons, they have moved in. They have got sleeping bags, mystery snacks from the motherland, and seem prepared to discuss existentialism over the communal sugar jar for the next 48 hours straight.
Their endurance is impressive, but their presenceâŠwell, itâs a bit like setting up a tent in the middle of a busy highway. Itâs hard to sip your coffee with someone practically rehearsing a Dostoevsky monologue at the next table while peeling what I can only assume is a turnip. Other customers have started to wonder: Is this a pop-up theater? An experimental art project? A new Cold War?
While I do appreciate a diverse crowd, I didnât expect my afternoon espresso to come with a side of borscht and a campfire song. If youâre looking for coffee with a twist of âalternative Russian summer camp,â this is your spot! But if you just want to enjoy your latte without feeling like youâre an extra in a Russian indie film, maybe get your coffee to go!
Lately consistency is banned, it seems that every Russian camper can make you a coffee, but only few can make you a decent one so be prepared to play Russian Roulette. I do lack a little bit of adrenaline, and life on the edge. For those with weak heart, well you should avoid coffee...
Read moreI am exploring Belgrade in a new way. I am going to visit every smoke free café, restaurant, pastry shop, etc., and review them. I began with D59B as coffee has been a part of my life since I was five.
A small coffee shop that only does coffee gets them 1 star. I hate a place that tries to be all things for all customers and ends up being great at none of them.
Excellence at coffee craft gets them the second star. They make really good coffee and they might get a sixth star if they had dark roast.
Wonderful bohemian place with character gets them the third star. This is not a cookie cutter antiseptic coffee shop. It has character and is a hole-in-the-wall kinda place I love. Loved the Jazz and other music pumping from the speakers.
Excellent service in a place packed with people wanting coffee gets them their fourth star. The barista made two 300ml pour overs for us and made sure it was done right and then brought it to us. We may have waited 10 minutes but Iâd rather have it done right than fast.
Smoke free is the fifth star. No cigarettes or vaping (which is smoking). Smokers were welcome outside and that is great. Everyone wins and gets to enjoy people, good Jazz music, and coffee.
Weâll be back as it reminds me of the now gone and replaced by a tourist help center Khaldiâs Coffee in New Orleans....
Read moreI would gave this place a 5 star rating, but there were 2 things missing: v60 was not available (i came twice in two weeks) and desserts (there are only packed cookies like biscotti). I tried filter coffee (if you are lucky, there are two options) and espresso. Though I'm not a big fan of filter, one was very nice and espresso was excellent! (there are two varieties available; I would strongly recommend to make more varieties available for coffee lovers). I also purchased some beans for home brewing (Ethiopia natural for v60), it was ok, but I would prefer a lighter roast (it's still strange to me that they don't make different roast for different brewing methods). Staff is very nice, friendly and helpful, it's nice to sit outside on...
