This post will be a bit longer and in-detail so bear with me. While visiting Belgrade, one of my closest friends suggested to check out this pure gem, opened in 2019. From the very entrance I was blown away by the looks of this restaurant. The sign outside simple, yet so inviting was just the beginning of a truly unique experience. The food menu and table presentation is very simple and it doesn’t take too much space at the table. The menu is divided into sections, easy to read and understand. Written both in Serbian and English. The food is beyond good! I started with blackened cauliflower florets with crispy rice, herbs and chili lime vinaigrette. That was followed by black tiger popcorn shrimp in tempura with chili yuzu aioli. The ingredients were so well balanced it truly was a pleasurable experience for my palate. I started with Butterfly Effect cocktail: Bombay Sapphire gin, honey and cucumber juice are just some of the ingredients in this amazing cocktail. As a main course I got tuna sashimi with coriander. The presentation speaks volumes and all the compliments to the Chef. That was accompanied by Kamikaze roll, signature dish I will leave as an invitation for all the people interested 😊 The cocktail that my server matched this dish for me was another signature cocktail Lick The Frog. For those who enjoy tequila this will be a perfect choice. Desert was an absolute 10! Chocolate fudge: hazelnut and almond tuile covered in nougat ice cream over chocolate fudge. It tastes as good as it sounds! The cocktail was Is It Safe, perfect choice for flavored vodka lovers! The service was impeccable! My server was very professional and knowledgeable! Great energy and prompt service. The restaurant has an amazing vibe, great music choice and it really made me feel like I am not on this continent! The restroom (usually never gets to be the part of the review) was clean, smelled amazing and great looking! All in all, the Angry Monk is one of the best places in Belgrade and definitely a must visit place! I am looking forward to going back...

I was at this place a couple of times already and usually order the same dish, always without rice but with some veggies instead, because i prefer low-carb.
It is - when compared to other restaurants in Belgrade - high priced. It has a bit of this see and be-seen attitude to it, so expect to pay a premium. I don’t care - I just liked the food and service.
But the place is failing. Both on food and service, they are worst, every time I go again. Today, was my last attempt and I do not recommend going, if you look for an overall great experience. You may end up as the „angry monk“ yourself.
On usual guest wishes they behave less customer-centric than the cheapest around-the-corner fastfood-shack. And while I am okay to pay an extra for extra-wishes, the lady serving was just arrogant and top-down, as if she owns the place and doesn’t care.
So after I told her I want no rice but some veggies instead, she not only could not make that happen (= bad service), whe didn’t offer an alternative, and on top brought me a pot with rice that looked as if someone has been sitting on it.
As everthing you multiply with 0 becomes 0, I give one star so that this rating pops out. If you dont care about food quality and like to be treated worst than in a train-station-restaurant, then this place will give you a good location, relaxed music and okayish cross-kitchen asia-style. Most of the other waiters that served me there before were also nice. So maybe it was just a one-off. Still, I will never go again, as such bad behavior is the symptom of a bad restaurant management. I will also never recommend anyone I like going.
There are now plenty of nee great choices around and if you want to get a feel for great restaurant service, go and check out one of the new russian-managed places around. These guys set a standard, that if places such as Angry Monk don’t adapt, they will simply be...

It is an extremely beautiful restaurant and bar with thoughtful architecture and evening table setting. The guest probably thinks at first that it is only an evening bar but quickly realizes that there is much more.
You must be wondering why my picture is so blurry. To be fair I felt the same after consuming the Ramen. Unfortunately for me Ramen is a special food that should achieve a lot of attention if not perfection. It would be very difficult to find the fifth taste because it gets lost already at the third.
They say that equating soup with meat and added various vegetables with Ramen is the same as comparing burek with a croissant. Perhaps as a tip: each added ingredient must connect. I assume that the ingredients are prepared in a larger quantity and then they are only systematically placed on the plate. This is where the difference comes in if we don't "season" each ingredient separately. Eggs should never take over the flavor of the entire dish.
Ramen itself is said to originate from China but it is associated with Japanese culture, which perfected this dish due to great dedication, discipline and the perfection of each individual ingredient.
But I can say that the very next Thai soup took me back to Bangkok at least a little.
Unfortunately I didn't succeed and didn't want to add pictures of the cocktails, because I advise you to take pictures yourself. This time I really indulged myself in great flavors and not just superb looks.
Cocktails here are the hidden umami in the dish.
If not for the food every time I return to Belgrade I would definitely go back because of the incredibly friendly staff, top-notch service and professional approach to cocktails.
But I promise that next time I will...
