This museum is a hidden gem! The first floor offers a well-documented and engaging overview of the history of banking in general, as well as the specific history of banking in Slovenia. Everything is clearly explained, with plenty of interactive elements available in English.
One of the most fascinating parts is following the transition from the communist era to the modern capitalist system—it's presented in a way that’s both educational and thought-provoking.
In the back, there’s a cool section with virtual reality experiences, and another area where you can learn how to spot counterfeit bills—you can even test (your own) banknotes!
But what truly made our visit special was the ticket vendor. He was incredibly friendly, offered us delicious coffee, and even gave us a mini guided tour of the museum. His enthusiasm for the exhibition and for answering all our questions really stood out.
Cannot recommend this museum enough—whether you're a history buff, interested in economics, or just looking for an engaging way to spend an afternoon...

The museum is located in old fine-de-siècle style building that was used as savings bank till recently.
You can see the ATM machine from inside, they preserved two bank counters from different time periode too. They have old bank notes and coins. You can see some video with VR glasses. They have children corner too.
You can purchase some souvenier gold, silver or just collectible coins in museum shop lead by friendly ladies.
