If you want authentic Slovenian food you must come here! A couple of friends and I got the recommendation from our tour guide and as it was our last night in Ljubljana, we decided to take a chance. Let me tell you, it was probably one of the best meals of our whole trip. We got a table in front of the window that looks right into the kitchen. The chefs waived at us since we were looking in and made us laugh. Waitstaff was amazingly attentive and willing to answer any questions we had. We were even able to congratulate the chefs through the window with how delicious everything turned out to be at the end of our night. Honestly wish we were staying another night to try more dishes.

A fantastic restaurant, tucked away in a small alley of Ljubljana near the city centre (riverside). We were a group of 7, and we were ushered in almost immediately. The selection of food was nice. Unfortunately, the Slovenian cocktails were not available, but the standard cocktails were good. We ordered one steak (rare), which was perfect. The ambience was nice, with lots of traditional Slovenian artifacts adorning the wall. Lastly, we want to say a bit thank you to our waiter George, who very patiently explained and helped us with our food selection. At the end of our dinner, he even explained the cultural significance of some of the artifacts in the restaurant.

The food was tasty. Really liked the beef goulash, the beef was perfectly cooked and I was super full after. The chicken cordon Bleu was good as well, but the potatoes served with it were not great. The salad was good, served with the pumpkin oil as a dressing. Service was good once we got a table, but it was really awkward when we were waiting for a table as they did not acknowledge us at all so we weren't sure if we were actually in line or what to do. Most the food I think is pre-preppared as well as the first thing I ordered was out, and with how quickly it came was a tell as well. Overall, I think they had good food though with quick and friendly service.

Worst service I’ve ever received in my life and I’m old. Had better service eating from a roadside hawker in Asia. Avoid unless you don’t have a sense of respect towards yourself and want to be ignored for at least 15 minutes after having waited in heavy rain with no one manning the front for another 15 minutes.

This restaurant serves traditional Slovenian food which is quite tasty but with their service you’ll never even get to order.

First we waited 15 minutes in the rain to be sat down even though we had a reservation because no one was manning the front. Even then we only got sat down because someone in our party went in to inform them. When we told them this they told us we should’ve just gone in and told them we had a reservation. Well if you know you’re a busy restaurant why don’t you hire more people so you can actually have someone man the front?

The troubles didn’t end even after we were seated. We already knew what we wanted to order within 5 minutes of sitting down so naturally. We tried to call someone at least three times but every single time we were ignored. Even when servers were facing our direction they avoided looking at us so they wouldn’t have to serve us. One server even told us to “put your hand down and be quiet”. Why would we put our hand down if you haven’t acknowledged us and we want to order? It is literally your job to take orders. They couldn’t even say wait a minute I’ll be back to take your order they just straight up avoided eye contact and did not approach our table.

The server then offered to give us a different table upstairs inside the building as we were initially seated outside where the rain was close to our table, but we had elderly in our party so we asked if they had a different table on the ground floor instead but the server said they didn’t. This is fine, but then instead of taking our order as we’d indicated by raising our hand several times previously and asking him if we could order, he just left us. Another long wait, because why serve your customers when you can just get paid to do nothing.

When the server finally got to our table, we told him we’d tried calling someone to our table for 10 minutes and he just acted blur, asking what several times. You’d think he didn’t work in customer service for a living. When we tried to order beef cheek which we knew they had because we’d eaten at the other branch of their restaurant, he just got confused and said we weren’t ready to order and left us. Why not try to even attempt to understand us? The restaurant is situated in a tourist area. There is no way they haven’t had to communicate carefully to take orders before. They just didn’t want to and couldn’t be bothered. God knows why they run a restaurant at all if they don’t want to give a service.

At this point we were pretty much fed up so we left the restaurant and found another place to eat that treated us better. Now I’m not saying I expect to be treated like royalty, but if I’m paying you for a service and food, should you not be giving me the bare minimum of restaurant service that every paying customer deserves? Who will tolerate being treated like this when they just want to eat?

For a place that purports to be a highly-rated restaurant, I can’t honestly say I believe they deserve their rating, and other reviews on google and tripadvisor will tell you the same thing. They don’t want you here, so why bother giving them your money and paying them to treat you and others badly? Save your money and your stomach and go eat somewhere that treats...

Rude, unprofessional staff & much more authentic, local traditional Slovenian food options in the city. All round very disappointing visit, would not return & certainly would NOT recommend.

We all ordered different dishes and the only compliment would be to the size of the dishes however, they were all rather bland and poor quality ingredients!

After our starters, the table hadn’t been cleared before a kitchen porter (rather than our waiter!) rushed out with our main meals and we had to clear the table for them! The dishes arrived lukewarm and it was evident our meals had been sat there cooling down on the side for a while before they arrived at our table.

During our meal, we struggled to flag down our waiter for a drinks order whilst eating and when he eventually came to pour the new glasses of wine in a rush, the bottle was finished before my glass was ‘full’ to the line which I commented and he then arrived back and sarcastically said ‘there you go, now it’s full’. The waiter, who I believe was called Alen, spoke as though we were being an inconvenience and not valued, paying customers. On both these occasions, the waiter had an opportunity to ask how our food was but he did not.

After we had finished our mains, we had to wait at least 15 minutes and still our waiter had not returned to clear the table, or ask if we wanted dessert (which we did not after the quality of the previous dishes). Again, we needed to flag him down to ask for the bill. Upon this, he asked how the meals were and I commented they arrived barely warm. Instead of listening, and welcoming the feedback in which he asked for, Alen instantly jumped on the defensive with a very poor attitude - he raised his voice at me, spoke over me and did not want to listen to what we had to say. He kept repeating that he had come over to the table twice to speak to us during our meal which was untrue, as we would have mentioned the feedback earlier, had we had a proper chance to speak to him.

The waiter continued to raise his voice making comments like ‘ok lady’ & tried to intimidate me as a young woman. Proudly stated he has been a waiter for ‘15 years’ - well if this was the case I’d suggest he needs some refresher training with his unprofessional attitude and non existent customer service. At this stage, I had to ask again for the bill and then he came back with a complete change of attitude - perhaps he had noticed that other tables were taking notice of how he was dealing with the situation and that he should accept feedback when he asked for it.

Very disappointing visit when only in the city for...

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER.

We came in at our designated appointment time of 8:30 after waiting 15 minutes beforehand in the heavy rain. After asking five minutes before the appointment, we are led to a table at the back. As we know what foods we want to order already, I raise our hand to order. Waiters and waitresses pass by without so much a glance at our direction. Fine. We say “excuse me” to catch their attention, a waiter sees us and says “put your hands down and be quiet”. We sit extremely confused and offended. We wait nearly another 15 minutes for him to come to our table to tell us to move to a table on the second floor of the indoor area (we were previously in the outdoor area) not explaining why. We say “no” and explain we have two elderly family members who have troubled knees.

Afterwards the same guy comes again to take our order. We do not speak nor read slovenian and hence cannot pronounce the names of the foods on the menu. Last time we went to the same restaurant at a different branch, we simply mentioned the food that we wanted such as “dumplings” and the waitress wrote down the name of the food. We did the same thing at this restaurant and said we wanted “beef cheek”. The waiter looked extremely confused and told us to order exactly from the menu. We took another look to confirm we couldn't find it because the name of the meal was not in english and he said and I quote “ok you are not ready” and proceeded to walk away.

Several minutes later we leave the restaurant because no restaurant, no matter the popularity, should even dream of treating a paying customer in that manner.

I am extremely disappointed with the lack of service. I felt insulted and am questioning whether this is an act of racism. Regardless I hope the staff knows they absolutely ruined our night and I hope they get more hospitality training.

I have been to many different types of restaurant all over the world and I have never ever been treated with such disrespect. This restaurant has surely won the award for the worst service ever.

They deserve a negative review however the lowest I could...
