Friends of ours got married on Easter weekend 2024 at this temple. If you are considering their wedding packages for the year, please read on. My friends opted for the package which included: hall, sound, decor and food with "A class service providers". All these service providers have opted as participants for this offering without making money from this as this was their seva to the temple. From September 2023 till March 2024, 6 months in total, my friend who was the Bride to be, spent numerous hours planning her special day. She liaised with Spot On Events over this duration regarding the exact layout and colours she preferred. They promised that they have enough decor with all the colours the couple wanted and that they would not let them down. Months of to and fro, the owner Jitesh and the wife from Spot on Events were quite abrupt and rude to my friend. The owner made it abundantly clear that he makes no money from this setup at the temple and that he has R1million clients he prioritizes yet in the same light, he mentioned that all clients get the same attention. See picture below of the level of standard you should expect from Spot on Events and pay careful attention to the wedding chair for the couple. This entire setup was appalling to say the least. This was completely wrong from design to colours on the stage. Upon taking it up in with the owner, he became nasty and threatened to go to the temple personally to remove the set. The couple were stressed out as this was not agreed to. After speaking to the Trustee, the set was changed, close enough to what was agreed, the colours were different and things were missing on stage. Post the wedding, the couple wrote several emails to the Chairlady of DHT, and were unfortunately ignored despite speaking to her on the phone requesting her to investigate and to reply to the email. This was a highly despicable turn of events and will not recommend using this service or temple.

This temple originally erected in 1898 serves as one of the oldest Hindu temples in the Durban area. Both a religious monument and a historical gem preserving the legacy of Hinduism that arrived in South Africa with the indentured labourers. The temple is clean, neat and now modern in its design. The temple also has a hall which the temple management rents out to individuals and/or organisations.

Historic and well-maintained temple. Deserves your attention and is an important part of the city's heritage. Also available as an event space.

I visited this hidden gem of a temple today and the pundits were welcoming and helpful.

There is beautiful function hall for hire and they are midst extension.

There is a beautiful peepal tree and Sanishwara prayer spot for lamp lighting, a dedicated enclave housing for each Deity for worship purposes, outside wash area and Prasad offering place with the temple stocked with Prasad fruit and camphor , incense etc for worship purposes.

You are not asked or forced to offer tribute and this is your own will. The temple will accept donations and you can step into the office to ask what they need or proffer help.

The murtis are well tended, clothed beautifully, cleanliness at peak and the entire atmosphere is one of peace. Do visit this hidden gem and oasis of spiritual ...
