I haven't been to Durban in at least 30 years, needless to say it is heartbreaking to see what used to be a beautiful tourist destination laid to waste. I wasn't expecting much from Minitown but boy, was I pleasantly surprised! It is so cute! The place is spotlessly clean and well maintained, all the displays looked like they had been freshly painted and everything worked, trains trucks and aeroplanes all rumbling along perfectly. My daughter was absolutely enthralled by the trains! The displays are sponsored by various companies, thank you to them for keeping this landmark alive. If only the real city looked this good. The only fault I could find with Minitown was that the water in the little lake was dirty but considering that all of Durban's beaches were closed due to high EColi counts I guess this is just par for the course. If you ever do find yourself in the dump that is Durban, I highly recommend a visit to Minitown, it will be the highlight of your trip.

I was at mini town on sunday 10 september 2023, last time i was there was 1977 when i was 2 years old, i will post a video from 1977,in this review, to show all that mini town has been around a long time, today there is much more to see, but i found the models a bit old and not well looked after, maybe i am comparing it to 1977 but with a little tlc mini town can be great again.my family all enjoyed mini town, from 70 years old to my son who is 2 years old, the same age i was in 1977.i do feel a little more effort in the models will make mini town so much nicer, like the sea side scene is missing water, the boats also need some more movement, maybe one day the small attention to detail will be better, why i am giving mini town 4 stars.

As a kid I really wanted to visit the Durban Mini town. For some odd reason I never did as a kid. Years later I returned and went to visit, this place is super incredible and every building tells a story about the rich culture and heritage that Durban has to offer. To enter we paid about R140 if I remember correctly for two adults and two kids. The kids loved the love locomotives that travels around. There is a small snack store inside so you can take buy snacks and really enjoy your time there. The place is well looked after and the mini buildings are not falling apart as many would assume. Be a kid again and visit this amazing architectural mini town. You won’t be sorry.

So it took many years before I got to go to the much talked about place. It showcases some of the very elite and prestigious businesses. I took out one star for the fact that the jumping castle was only accessible to the people that hire the party venue, which took me a fair amount of time to explain to my little one that yes we paid an entrance fee but it did not include access to that part. So we paid R30 for adults and R20 for the kids, which merely covers the walk through the minitown arena. Overall it was awesome to see such talent and the attention to detail was impeccable. Will take guest to experience this place but will avoid the kids seeing the jumping castle.

Minitown has been around for years and apart of Durban Promenade History. Although there are alot of figurines missing due to theft and some buildings not 100%, the owners and care takers have kept everything neat, tidy and in working condition. The trains still run along the track and the bridge goes up and down. The ship also moves aswell as the small trucks. Our Durban companies definitely need to try and sponsor a building. It will be good advertising for them and inturn make Minitown better. My daughter absolutely loved the experience, so much so we went around 3 times. I recommend all Durbanites, who havent been in some time, to go down and support them🙏

I am giving 2 stars because the place is well kept and there are a few good exhibits. Other than that, the entrance fee is way too expensive for such a small place that you can see in 15 minutes. There are only a few models of the Durban landmark buildings and the rest are just models of the sponsors buildings or warehouses. Who wants to see that? Surely these big companies that sponsor the place can agree for money to be used to make models of landmarks instead. Where is Moses Mabida stadium, how about a model of Ushaka Marine World? Overall very disappointing and not worth the money you pay to enter.
