AK PLAZA Hongdae — Attraction in Seoul

The Mopeon Cafe in the AK Plaza Mall has very lazy staff. They went on break as soon as we arrived even though there were no costumers for the past hours. And then they told us we couldn't sit there because we had to order but we couldn't because they went on break. They were constantly on their phones and seemed to randomly pick when break time is. Go to animate cafe it's better. Dont waste your money. Also the staff in most stores are rude.

Edit: we went there again and we wanted to try to buy some merchandise of a webtoon they were selling. They told us the collaboration hadn't started yet and we weren't allowed to buy anything (everything was on display with prices an everything that would indicate they were already selling). They did seem very eager to sell to Koreans and male visitors but not to us. This place is not worth visiting at all seeing as they are not only racist but also sexist. AK Plaza in Hongdae is cute, but the staff at the shops are surprisingly ignorant of the AK Plaza mall's participation as a Global Tax Free business affiliate. The logo is plastered in the lobby entrance, over 3ft in diameter. I asked several cashiers at various stores and they said they didnt know or said that I had to contact Plaza staff. No staff around. Granted there is a tax refund kiosk on the 1st floor, but the Animate store staff said it's not for AK Plaza purchases. I did try it out just in case and it didn't work.

I suspect the Animate store doesn't offer tax free for tourists since their receipts don't state tax free on the top. I just thought it was a bit misleading when the mall has the logo and the Animate store staff kept saying to go to the 1st floor and contact Plaza staff to process the refund.

I'll chalk it up to lost in translation experience, but just a warning to other tourists...
