My friend recommended I try sogum and teriyaki makchang, and her recommendation was right! I especially liked the sogum (salt) makchang.
The restaurant has a vibrant atmosphere and yes you do have to order 2 portions. I ate alone and went in as a solo customer. Ordering 2 portions make sense as you need 2 portions to cover the hotplate tray. The price was very reasonable and it was even more attractive compared to the other nearest makchang place charging 25k won for 1 large portion of makchang (meaning you have to buy 50k won of makchang minimum). It would be a huge food waste to force a single eater to order that much and throw away all the leftovers.
I would recommend this place, especially if you are a solo traveller willing to pay and eat double portion yourself. My stomach almost bursted but it was worthed it.
