In A Nutshell:
-The Trickeye Museum in Hongdae was slightly challenging to locate, but Google Maps helps pinpoint the right area. -Once you find the location, you'll take an elevator. -There are a couple prices you can pay, one is just to see the Trickeye Museum and the other includes access to the ice museum. -Since you are there, you might as well pay for both. -After you pay, you'll be instructed to download their special app on your phone so that the augmented-reality (AR) comes to life. -Through their app, you'll be able to take photos or videos. -I preferred to take videos since the AR is captured fully. -The downside is that it might take you awhile to get the hang of using the app & by the time you do, the place might get crowded & you'll have people in the background. -The people situation can get bad fast since the spaces are small & you need to have some space to capture all the AR happening.
Overall, if you go here, I highly recommend you come as soon as it opens to avoid the crowds so you can get some great...
Read morePositive: staff was very kind and helpful and spoke English to us. They explained every last detail of the experience and how to do it. They also gave us pictures with directions. Some of the AR were really cool and funny to see. The required app was easy to use and WiFi is provided for free at the museum. Also location is very easy to find.
Negatives: Museum cost us 15000₩ for 2 people and that was admission for Trick Eye and Ice Museum; it sounds like a lot, but it is not. Ice museum is one very small room with some ice sculptures (see included photos). Trick eye a relatively short exhibit with a lot of exhibits that are a bit confusing to follow and that really aren’t interactive or good for photos. The whole experience for both museums only took us about 45 minutes. NOT FOR KIDS!! This is attached to the Love Museum which is definitely not for children and borders along the inappropriate side (nudity) also it’s not really a museum...more of just taking pictures with the walls. The best part was the mirror...
Read moreThe tickets here was included in the Discover Seoul Pass. We had entrance to the ice display as well as the museum. The ice museum was in a giant freezer and had carvings of different things like a throne or a bear. They also had a huge slide which was quite fun to slide down. The Trick Eye museum itself was really interesting. It is way more enjoyable with other people as it probably wouldn't make sense if you're alone. One person stands at the photo spot and other people just do what they want and the outcome is generally a hilarious photo. Some were a lot easier to understand than others but there were plenty of photo ops. It wasn't too busy when we were there but I can see how it can get really busy as people try to get the perfect photo. They also had a virtual reality area where you can play some VR games but it is extra to the museum tickets. Quite an enjoyable experience but I think it depends on who...
