Tips:|1. Getting here: from the Airport, take the Airport Railroad (All stop train), a.k.a. 'AREX Commuter Line' on some websites. Get off at Hongik University, and get out of the train station at Exit 2. After taking the escalator and reaching ground level, walk straight ahead for about 50 meters. The building will be on your left.|2. Host can help you arrange transport to the airport (in a car) if you need to catch early flights. However, this may be more expensive than taxis. |3. Host was fairly fluent in Mandarin and English.||Location:|1. The guesthouse is located in a town that is still active at night, so we felt safe. Thankfully, we did not hear much noise from the streets when we were in our room so we were not really disturbed.|2. Room is near many restaurants and shops with fairly reasonable prices.|3. You can catch some street/public performances at night, like singing and dance performances across the road from the hotel.||Our Room - we stayed in the 6 person room. |1. The room was cozy and there was enough space to open around 5 luggages.|2. The beds come in the form of 2 double beds and 2 single beds. If you are sharing the double bed, it is possible to ask for additional blankets so each person has 1 blanket.|3. Heating: |A. When we were checking up on this place, we came across reviews that said the heaters weren't working properly. However, the guesthouse had installed an additional portable heater system and the room was warm (around 25 degrees Celcius) + well insulated. |B. We realised that it was also possible to live without the additional heater (despite outside temperatures of 0 to -5 degrees Celcius).|C. Note that the original heater in the room (the non-portable one) turns on and off occasionally.||4. Wifi is fast, but not available early in the morning and late at night (usually past 12am)|5. Our kettle did not produce oily water unlike what was mentioned in some other reviews.|6. Washing clothes:|A. Washing machine and washing detergent provided. However, labels on washing machine are in Korean and there is no instruction manual, so you may need to ask the host for assistance.|B. Host provided drying rack to dry our clothes.|C. Bring your own pegs - few pegs provided - (and hangers if you see fit).|D. If you want the clothes to dry faster there is a dryer in the basement. However you have to pay to use the dryer. During our trip, we did not need to use the dryer as our clothes dried quite quickly.||7. Shampoo and body soap provided.|8. Towels:|A. Only 6 towels were provided (i.e. 1 per person), no foot towels or hand towels for the toilet were provided. Additionally, theyre small, so you may want to bring your own bathing towels.|B. The cleaning lady sometimes forgot to replenish towels, but the host gladly replenished upon request.||9. Cleaning: room is cleaned daily, around 12 to 1pm. Cleaning includes throwing away rubbish and changing towels, but our bedspreads were not changed. There is a vacuum cleaner in the room, so you can clean the room yourself if you want to. ||Host|1. The host was nice, and willing to wait over 2 hours for us after we faced a delay at the airport. |2. Host kindly offered to help us order takeout over the phone.|3. Host replies to whatsapp messages...
Read moreWe stayed only a night on the day we first arrived in Seoul. However despite the unfamiliarity in surroundings, we managed to find the building easily. ||How to go: We took the AREX Commuter train from Incheon Airport to Hongik Univ. Station (approx. 4,500W), then took exit no. 2 of the subway station. once you come up from the exit, just go straight across the road and you will see the big Oil Station on your left. Pass that station is 7-11, and you will see a grey building with revolving door on your left (opposite the road on your right should be a mall with Uniqlo). That grey building is what you're looking for - Megallion 21 building. ||We received an email from the manager, Andy, a few days before with details on directions as well as checking-in and we were happy to be able to check-in to our room hassle-free.||||We booked a triple room, which came with 3 single beds, and lots of room to open up 3 large suitcases and still have walking space. the room had a great heating system which we were thankful for after a day's shopping out in the cold weather. at night if you're afraid of the room being stuffy, there was a portable aircon for your usage. Do note that the windows cannot be open, and there's no smoking allowed in the room. Hairdryer was available. Small kitchenette concealed behind foldable cupboard doors, keeping it nicely hidden, though no cooking utensils. fridge was large but smelt quite bad. We did not need it anyway. ||||It was a pretty easy walk to Hongdae area, where shopping and food were. All in all we were very satisfied with...
Read moreI stated in a room for 3. The room is big. It's very easy to go to Ewha where ladies can buy cosmetics and affordable clothes and do their hair (popular hair salons). The apartment is just about 10 metres or so from exit 2 of Hongik station. From Hongik station you can also take the airport express. You can use the T money. The wifi in the room is fast. The host, Mr Lee, is usually in his office so you can ask him for help. There are many restaurants at Hongdae so u will never be hungry. The people who hang around that area are young and decent. It is a very vibrant and safe area. The only complaint I have about the apartment is that the curtains do not block out the morning sun. Thus, I could not sleep late. I hope Mr Lee change the curtain. The air con is a little noisy. Other than that, it is a good and...
